"Oriental Rice Hamburger Helper" has always sold like hotcakes here in Green Bay, Wisconsin! It has been very popular!
Someone at Betty Crocker (owned by General Mills) really made a big mistake, when they discontinued a very good selling favorite like "Oriental Rice Hamburger Helper"!
Something needs to be done to bring it back!
Why did Betty Crocker make such a mistake? Who is responsable for discontinuing it? Bring it back!!!

I know what you mean. I have been undercut by companies that produced my favorite foods too. When I write them, I get coupons for more of their product in the mail, and a form letter saying "Thank you for writing us".

The sad fact is, once the R&D has been done and all the marketing and packaging and any retooling in factories for a new product, the company is not about to say "Gee I guess we made a mistake... let's quit producing it." It's their economics at stake, and the sad thing is, people will buy anything that is thrown at them. They may have replaced Oriental Rice HH with Rubber Biscuit HH, and it will sell just fine, without a ripple in their books, to the zombie/consumer out there. Sad, as I say.

I don't know why but maybe you can contact the company via e-mail or phone call & find out why. I lived in Ohio all my life until a year ago, when I moved to S.C. & I have never seen that on the shelf in either state. Good luck, I hope you get an answer to your question from the company. If I happen to see it down here, I'll send you a case & no charge. :)

Probably the sales were not high enough to justify the manufacturing , distribution costs associated along with marketing the product so it was discontinued. As with any product there are regional demographic markets in which the product experiences great sales but not enough to warrant national distribution.
