what is the logic in making sex a "dirty" thing?

Not all religions that have a belief in a God or Gods has demonized sex. In point of fact, many polytheistic religions have deities who are actually sexually active! Polytheists recognize the connection between sexual activity and the basic building blocks of society. Sexuality is accepted in these religions..... both HETEROsexual activity and HOMOsexual activity. The one thing that is NOT accepted is the use of sexual VIOLENCE such as rape.

Since your original premise is wrong the question can not be answered. Deistic religions DO NOT demonize sex and make it a dirty thing. What they do is try to "legitimize" sex for certain situations. This is done because of other aspects of human nature primarily jealousy and envy.

Most deistic religions "authorize" sex between one man and one woman contained in some form of "marriage" and the bond is for life. It "condemns" sex outside of this bond. If EVERYONE adhered to this principle, what would be the result?

Consider:

The number of murders that occur between jealous partners or ex-partners.

The killings that have been committed in the name of love.

Mental problems that are "attributed" to sexual "misbehavior". This includes people who suffer depression from divorce.

There would be no rape, incest, molestation, divorce.

Why "deistic" religions? Did you mean "theistic"?

They do not universally agree on sex as something 'dirty'. But most modern monotheistic religions have their roots in the ancient Eastern Mediterranean, whose honor-shame cultural values placed a high value on female chastity except within marriage, so as to provide legitimate heirs for the husband's family.

It is easy to see how this would have an evolutionary advantage...

It's easy. Here's the explanation:

It's basically all down to CONTROL - to having power over people.
See, you take something that's completely inevitable that people will do. Breathing would be a bit too radical, so let's take sex. Make it a total sin. Have some crazy pope write a textbook on how to conceive children without actually having any fulfillment with sex. Yup, go that far if you must.
Now, you know people will still do it, it's inevitable, right? So make them feel GUILTY for it - they sinned, after all. And because they feel guilty, they must go to confession to get rid of those sins.
Now you nearly have them where you want them - you get to talk to them privately, influencing their thoughts, offering your cr4p in exchange for them not feeling guilty anymore - and getting information. People in confession will tell you a lot of things. And in exchange you can wash their brain.
See? The concept of sin is all about control over people.

Have you read Song of Solomon in the Bible? The marital sex they have in there is far from dirty. It is seen as a beautiful thing and incredibly erotic.

There is a great study called Song of Solomon by Tommy Nelson. Fantastic. The way he teaches it makes me ready to go home and be with my husband and vice versa for him.

A lot of preachers, not all of them, do not even acknowledge marital sex or the book of the Song of Solomon in the Bible. It has led a lot of believers to think that talking about it is wrong and even in marriage that it is a dirty thing

I like being a pastor's wife and getting married couples out of their comfort zone. Eventually it gets them talking about issues they need to talk about in the first place

Not really sure, weird I was thinking the same thing earlier.

Christianity has the view that marriage is somewhat symbolic of Jesus' relationship with the church, and Paul taught that church leaders should have only one wife. But for some reason it was St Augustine that was the largest contributor to making the church "anti-sex"

Obviously you have never learned about Judaism. Sex is celebrated in Judaism as long as it is not in a forbidden relationship. There is NO original sin in Judaism. We are all created as a blank slate. We become good/evil through the choices we make in life.

Here;

"In exchange for obedience, Christianity promises salvation in an afterlife; but in order to elicit obedience through this promise, Christianity must convince men that they need salvation, that there is something to be saved from. Christianity has nothing to offer a happy man living in a natural, intelligible universe. If Christianity is to gain a motivational foothold, it must declare war on earthly pleasure and happiness, and this, historically, has been its precise course of action. In the eyes of Christianity, man is sinful and helpless in the face of God, and is potential fuel for the flames of hell. Just as Christianity must destroy reason before it can introduce faith, so it must destroy happiness before it can introduce salvation.

To degrade and control women. Just read the book God is not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything. Hitchens addresses this very subject in the first 25 pages or so.

God created sex, its a pleasure , a way to produce children and solidify marriages. A man and a woman who are married to each other are to enjoy it.
