I ask becasue the side of an advil bottle says do not take for more then 10 days in a row, but I am wondering if that only says that for people that take 2 every 4 hours not 2 single pills a day like me. Thanks for your help.

I asked my pharmacist if I could take 800mg ibuprofen (Advil) every eight hours which is the prescription dose. And he told me that, that was ok. I'm a very small person and don't weigh very much.

If the pain is too severe then you may want to call up your dentist and say its an emergency. They should be able to see you ASAP.
If it is an ache when you eat something hot/cold which lingers for a while it may be a very deep cavity which needs a root canal. If the pain is not lingering then it could be fixed with a filling. In any case Advil for that many days is not advised coz' too much of the medicine can cause gastritis and bleeding due to stomach ulcers. Also refrain from alcohol as it can increase your chances of gastric perforation.

Yes, you can, without pushing the limit, take 400mg of Advil a day. I don't think it will be very effective for tooth pain, however.

Taking it days before the appointment does you no good at all. Your body gets rid of it in about 24 hours.

Spices - Anise or Cloves

Clove oil is a good toothache remedy.

Anise is a licorice-like herb for toothache.

I've taken an aspirin and placed it on my tooth before.
