Loads of potential to get hurt. (been there done that). Doesn't usually happen. By becoming 'shag buddies' you set the boundaries on the relationship, well it's not even that really as it just meets a need. Learnt to respect you so others do. Then the next time you make love it will be with some one who wants to take things forward not keep what you have at the most basic level.

There 's not much chance of becoming more. I had a friend with benefits, and a little after a year of being buddies she wanted a long term serious relationship. However, I didn't want the same because I didn't see any potential as a good wife or the mother to my children. So she found another buddy and ended up marrying him.

Similar things have happened to friends of mine.

So with all that being said, there isn't much of a chance. But there is a chance.

slim to none. it's practically impossible. and then, if they do establish a relationship somehow, it is ruined within weeks. It doesn't work for a number of reasons, number one being the very reasons they are "buddies" is to avoid commitment, and when they go toward it, someone ends up running. another being that they already have everything they want without commitment, and can get it elsewhere as well, there is no reason to commit to their "buddy".

Pretty slim. Usually if you enter into a casual relationship like that it's because it's convenient, not because there are true and lasting feelings for the other person. One person is likely to get more involved and either is likely to leave the set up as soon as they find someone they truly care about. I just read an interesting article about it, here it is...

You don't take shag buddies for the relationship, he'll probably feel cheated.

Slim,but still possible.

Talking to eachother will help to understand what either of you want and don't want in this kind of relationship.

If you don't talk, you may end up stuck in the same situation for a very long time, and that would be time wasted, especially if both of you want different things out of it.
