I have a shirt on that says, "I'm Smart, That's Why I am Single"
I think that it is pretty funny in a sarcastic, witty kind of way. Why the strange looks?! I am also not looking for them to give me a reaction, I have just noticed alot more staring today than usual. I am on a college campus btw.

I think maybe they don't understand the humour in the message shown on your t-shirt. Maybe they have a sense of humour failure about the joke...?
Or maybe they think you're bragging about being smart & don't like that you're advertising that you're single.
You're wearing something that they wouldn't wear & they can't fathom you out.
They're acting like they're still at that 'awkward age'! In a few years time they will understand the joke!
It could be they're staring because they're trying to read the caption on your shirt!

If you wear a a shirt with something to read on it people will read it. They have to look at it to read it correct? Besides, as someone else mentioned, if you have nice boobs the guys are probably using as an excuse to be able to stare a little longer.

When you wear shirts with witty slogans, you're going to get more attention, and people may even give you funny looks, if they disagree or don't get the statement.

They're just probably looking at your boobs, the writing on your shirt gives them an excuse to stare. You probably do get the stares on a regular basis and don't notice, today your just paying attention to it. Don't worry about it, ignore it, they're just enjoying the scenery.

While I can see the humor in the sentiment, I still believe in dressing a little nicer for class.

Message shirts tend to draw looks, some are reading your shirt. Some are thinking cute message. If it was me, I would just look at them and smile knowingly.
