Someone said about wine, I forget who, that wine is the proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. Alcohol is like most things, properly used it is a good thing, but it can be misused.
There are bars where men who have nothing better to do drink until they get drunk, then often get into fights. Where prostitutes pick up business, etc. I wouldn't want to work in a place like that.
But Ruby Tuesdays? That's pretty innocent as bars go. That's a place where 'nice' people, people with jobs and families, meet for a drink before dinner, or where a couple on a date will stop after the movie to linger over a drink and talk. I don't see any moral problem with working in that kind of situation.

If you are a true believer, then bartending should pose some challenges I would think. I mean - would you feel right about mixing drinks and getting people drunk? Then watching them drive after that? Wouldn't you feel somewhat responsible for the outcome of the drinks you're serving? It's not necessarily bad if it gives you a platform to share Christ with others. But, I'm not sure. I'd love to do this myself but I'm not sure it would be good for me personally. I mean - for a woman - guys flirt and all kinds of wacky things can happen. As a man - well - it would be easier but I don't think there is a clear right or wrong answer. If you were to tell a customer that they were sloshed and make sure they had a ride home or didn't let them drive drunk - would your boss get ticked? Would responsible actions - end up getting you fired? The complications are endless if you are a true believer with morals, values, compassion and care for the human race. I'm just not sure the bar scene at a restaurant or elsewhere is really compatible with a person of moral integrity who really cares about people. Gosh - I wouldn't have liked to have been the man or woman who served alcohol to the man who served the drunk gentleman who killed my husband's father - would YOU? My husband's dad was driving at a reasonable hour of the night to pick up corn on the cob of all things - and was hit and killed by some drunkard. If you were the person who served it to him - wouldn't you have felt somewhat responsible for that? I mean - other people's decisions aren't your responsibility - but to play a part in the downfall of innocent human life - that can't be a good feeling.

Different Christians have different aspects. Some say that you need to pray every day, some say that once a week is enough, and some are even less involved. Being an employee for a company which is present at different places is not different from being an emplyee for a company which has only one shop. So the prior ones have more stores; does that mean that they are more evil, that God dislikes them more? No.

That's an intriguing point, Ra. It immediately brings to mind people who claim to have been 'saved' while in prison. I am sure many of them are saved. God is in the business of saving people. It's not God that I question in this regard, it is people's sincerity. On a side note, there are lots of good people whom aren't saved Christians. You are a person that I like and respect, for example- Frou Frou is another one. You are good people! And just because someone claims to be a Christian does not mean that he or she is a good person. You can tell more about a person by observing his or her actions than what he or she says.

I suppose, if their specific denomination or sect frowns on alcohol use. Otherwise, it would be alright anywhere.
Are you trying to suggest that bartending at a Ruby Tuesday would be more wholesome than bartending anywhere else? Because that seems kind of hair-splitting.

Nope!
Christian ARE allowed to drink alcohol, but they are NOT allowed to abuse it, put it before others, before God, before family, and invest in it for oneself.
Example: You can own a Winery, you can have as many bottles as you want, but you can not keep it all for yourself and put the wine before your health, or the health of your family.
As for bar-tending, it's all the same. You can work at a tavern as long as you watch out for yourself and don't drink too much.
Why is it that everybody has to bend Christianity into something that it isn't??? It's ridiculous!

We're not to judge, that's between the Bartender and God. However, to my knowledge there's nothing Biblical to prohibit someone from tending a bar.

There is nothing wrong with bartending and it doesn't matter if you are a christian or a toe-nail worshiping giraffe.
What are you going to do? Set people on fire? Commit crimes against humanity? What? So no, it is not bad.
