Only rats can live together. As rats are omnivores and do go for small prey, mice, amsters and gerbils can end up dead, purposefully or by accident. Guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, etc. can also kill a rat by accident. The best companion for a rat is a rat.

Absolutely NONE - unless you want every animal in the cage (possibly including the rats) to be dead eventually. Rats are predators when it comes to smaller animals. The only animal that will get along in the same cage with a rat IS a rat.

There are no other small animals that can live with rats in the same cage .. they will fight for territory .. any small animal should be sorted by species. Some species will only tolerate one in a cage at a time .. others will live together ( but only rats with rats ... then mice with mice etc. )

No other animals can live in the cage with rats. Rats are hunters, and will eventually devour any other animal that doesn't devour it. Rats should not be given any unsupervised time with any other type of animal, ever.

I agree with the guys above me. You should definitely not put another small animal in a cage with a rat. The rat would kill the other small animal, or the other animal would kill the rat. Please do not place another animal in with a rat. It is not a good idea.

I do not recommend placing these species in a cage together. They are both quite territorial species, and you will almost certainly deal with fighting, and the aftereffects thereof. In addition, they would probably spread disease to one another. Just not a good idea. But I'm glad you asked. :)
