I have looked, but most have alot of stuff I wouldn't use - or is expensive. When living on (for groceries for 2) $50/week, I'm running out of ideas.

You can brown ground beef and chopped onion, drain it, add a can of beef broth and any veggies you want and make a stew. With salad or a vegetable and some bread you have a meal.

Sometimes the cheapest way is to buy a bigger piece. You can buy a large pork roast, put it in the crock pot with some celery salt, garlic powder to taste, salt and pepper. Let it cook til it almost falls apart. Take it all off the bone, remove the fat, cut it up. Bag it in baggies large enough for a meal. You will get many meals out of it. Take a bag out, add bbq sauce of anykind, add a salad and you have a meal. Or throw it in a pan with your choice of veggies and some soy sauce, put it over rice and you have stir fry. Or make gravy with beef broth, add the meat let it cook together. Make some mashed potatoes and a veggie. It's a meal.

You can also buy tortillas, heat the meat, add lettuce and tomatoe and cheese and have simple tacos or burritos. Yum. It's really nice to have something already cooked in the freezer than you can pull out and get creative with.

Buy when things are on sale, cook them and freeze for later. Beef, chicken, pork. It all works. You will eat on it for weeks, but it will be fresh everytime because you have frozen it already cooked for different recipes. Good luck.

For ground beef, I have two delicious family favorites.

Spoonburgers

1 lb ground beef
1 can french onion soup
1-2 tablespoons flour
salt and pepper to taste
hamburger buns

Brown the ground beef and drain almost all of the grease. Sprinkle the flour over the beef and stir until smooth, cooking about 2 minutes. Add the french onion soup and simmer until thickened, about 8-10 minutes (about the consistency of sloppy joes). Season as desired. Serve on hamburger buns.

Beef "Stroganoff"

1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2-1 cup sour cream
garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste

Brown the beef and onion. Add the soup and sour cream (use more or less depending on how creamy you want it). Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper (season to taste). Simmer 8-10 minutes. Serve over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice (we love it over egg noodles).

For chicken:

Chunk up the chicken and toss it in a skillet with a little olive oil. Season with 1-2 capfuls Mrs. Dash (any flavor you like) and cook until chicken is done, about 10 minutes or so. Add a spoonful of dijon mustard and a cup of sour cream. Serve over yellow rice.

Also, try www.miserlymoms.com...they have a section called "frugal recipes" that are cheap and easy to make.

Good luck!

I've got the answer to all three meats. For ground beef, cook as hamburgers, then when done, pour a can of cream of mushroom soup over them in the pan, turning the heat down to medium low.
For chicken, put chicken in a baking dish. Sprinkle garlic salt over, heavily. Pour on a can of cream of mushroom soup and bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes or until completely done.
For pork chops, fry in pan until done. Sprinkle with garlic salt, heavily, then pour in a can of cream of mushroom soup and saute 15 to 20 minutes.
Very tasty food!

stock up on some staples like brown rice, canned beans, whole wheat pasta and lentils . . . they can be used with anything and will keep you more full than regular pasta, white rice or potatoes. you can kind of stretch out a lot of meals with these things.

in terms of things you can do with the meat you have:

pasta & tomato sauce (but cook the pork chops IN the sauce - it makes the meat really tender and makes the sauce taste great)

chicken baked in a can of cream soup served on rice with veggies

also, here's an old recipe my mom used to make called "steak soup":

brown 1 lb hamburger meat
take the meat out and cook in the juice:
1 tbs oil
1 c. carrots, sliced thin
1/2 c. onion
1/2 c. celery

cover and cook till veg are softened, about 5 min
stir in 2 tbs flour and cook 1 min
add:
i can beef broth or water
i can tomato
i c. h2O
1 tbs. worchestershire
1/2 tbs. each salt and pepper

return beef and bring to boil
simmer 25 min
stir in 1/2 c frozen peas
2 tbs parsley

I know about living on a budget. I like Shake and Bake for pork chops. Most stores have their own brand like Shake and Bake, but I found I do like the Shake and Bake best. For ground beef, I like to add chili powder and ranch beans for a quick tasty chili. For chicken, try a can of cream of mushroom or cream of broccoli soup and some instant rice. It can be quite tasty. Good luck.

This is a recipe I made a lot when I was first married. It came off a box of Rice-A-Roni. It makes a tasty and filling easy one dish meal.

Spanish Pork Chops

1 box Rice-A-Roni Spanish rice (or any flavor you want)
4 pork chops
2 TBSP butter
1 15oz can stewed tomatoes
2 1/2 c hot water

In large skillet brown pork chops and set aside. Melt butter or margarine in skillet and add rice vermicelli mixture. Cook until vermicelli is light brown. Add hot water, contents of seasoning packet and can of tomatoes. Stir. Return pork chops to skillet. Bring to boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes.

take chicken breast, put it in a pan. Next pour uncooked rice around the chicken. Finally pour one can of soup on the whole mess. It can be cream of chicken, mushroom, tomatoe(whatever you want). Then cover it with foil. Cook at 375 for a about 45 min. Then take the foil off and stir. Cook uncovered at 375 for another 20 min or until its done. That's a cheap and good meal
