I have a 'no contest' plea and I'm currently on probation for a domestic dispute. Will employers see this on my record and will I have a problem finding work? It's my first offense my entire life.

It will show up on your record, potential employers may find reason to not hire you becuase of it, but mostly like not.

What will definitely do it though is if you try to hide it.

BE honest and if they ask questions explain that it was your only offense and you made a mistake or what ever, take responibility, you could potentially win over potential employers by owning up to it if they ask about it in an interview, don't blame shift, be a man about it.

One of the biggest growing concerns companies have regarding their employees is domestic violence. They would rather avoid as much of it as possible. I'm not saying that all domestic disputes end in violence, but the problem of disturbing the workplace and placing other employees at possible risk is not something they want. This is the reason they may find that you are not a good choice for a candidate even if you are more than qualified. There are too many people out there who need a job and don't have those problems.

But if you can get pass it, and get a job in spite of it, don't let your personal life become a liability at work. Keep it home. This is from someone who had a co-worker die because her husband shot her.

Since your plea is no contest, you have not been found guilty or innocent. I don't know how you can be on probation (that means you WERE found guilty and probation is part of your punishment)

If you are found guilty, yes, it will make it difficult to find a job.

But, one thing is certain.... there is no way to go back now... do the best with what you have.
