woulnt it be nice if all high school students who were physically able, had to ride across the USA to graduate ?
This was a comment on Adventure Cyclist. Not open to answers.

come on, dont you think that it would make better people out of the graduates?
Help them really know about their country?
Most kids I have seen today have no rite of passage.
I believe it could create great things.

Great idea! It's something I wish I did. I knew several guys back in '76 that did it. It was a big thing for the bicentennial.

That would be great but alot of people wouldn't be able to finish because of logistics problems:Northern Tier & Trans America awfully hilly, Southern Tier Hot as hell, and The Western Express is long.hot and boring. I would love to do it but who has $7000 to do a bike ride coast to coast?

Great idea if you want the high school dropout rate to be about 95%.
