All of the cruise lines which I have listed below have cruises leaving from various ports in the UK. The cruises will have itineraries to the British Isles, the Baltic, and the Mediterranean. You can in most cases just go to the cruise line web sites and select the departure ports available for that line. Some will cruise from Dover, others from Southampton and others from Harwich.

Last May we did a cruise from Dover to the Baltic on the Celebrity cruise ship, Constellation. Great ship and great cruise. It was a 14 day round trip from Dover and we took the train from Waterloo to Dover.

The Cunard cruise line does Transatlantic cruises from the UK almost weekly and if you do not want to fly back home you can just book back to back cruises for your return. Or book a return on a different cruise line since a few do also have transatlantic cruises to the UK.

Crystal cruise line even has a cruise or two that leave from London. They have smaller ships but provide 5 star service; they also cost much more than other lines but you get what you pay for.

P & O and Princess go from Southampton - you arrive at the dockside and if you have a car it is driven into a secure compound while your luggage is carried away for you. Into Customs, then board the ship; so simple.
What you should do is to read Berlitz book "Ocean Cruising and Cruise Ships" published annually; your library should have a copy. It makes for very good bedtime reading, describes every cruise ship afloat, evaluates the facilities and service. It answers all the usually asked questions, and really tells you which ship you shouldn't use, so if you hate kids, you will look at the "adults only" liners, if you love Italians, go for Costa.
I bought a copy when we were going on our first cruise in 2005 and decided the Oriana was our sort of ship. It was fabulous for us (and I didn't put on weight!).

There are plenty of cruises that start in and return to the UK. The main disadvantage is that you spend a lot of time getting to somewhere more interesting. Try doing a web search on "cruise" "no flying" UK sites only.

Cruises are solid to fulfill human beings because of the fact you "bump" into the comparable human beings perpetually which makes it less difficult to start a communique. additionally, you're eating with persons and a powerful ice breaker is, "i've got never been to (the subsequent port)... What are you going to do there?" you assert you're a splash shy, yet once you are able to step out of your shell in elementary terms a splash, there may well be contests and annoying circumstances on board the place you're put in the spot easy or placed right into a team.
