Aren't you 20 also - why don;t you tell her how your room is.

I think by age 20, she should be choosing room furniture and decor by what works for her and not by what works for other 20 year olds.

I know a 20 year old that is studying to be an architect and has a huge drafting table in her room. It works for her but it wouldn't for me--

I know another 21 year old who has sleep apnea and has her breathing machine on a nightstand out of necessity. Before needing that, she didn't use one.

Then I know of a 19 year old girl who wouldn't go without a nightstand because she is an avid night time reader.

Im sure you get my point. I would tell the 20 year old friend to be brave and start making choices, as hard as it can be at first, and to try trusting her own decisions and ituition on things like this. If she doesn't begin to do this, she will NEVER be able to trust herself in any important decisions.

She still has 3 years before she can legally marry him. Try to get proof that he's breaking the no contact rule and show it at court. She breaks curfew or anything of the sort, call the cops. Let them take her to jail or juvie whatever it is, maybe it'll knock some common sense into her. She's going to learn one way or the other. If she's not already sleeping with him she will be soon and could very well end up pregnant. And then when he wants nothing to do with her anymore she'll come crying home. Sometimes you just have to let your kids learn the hard way.

Being twenty I have a dresser for clothes and a nightstand for all of the things you want to keep right next to you as you sleep. I have candles on the wall and pictures. I also have a full length mirror on the back of the door. She should have whatever she wants it's her private space. She doesn't have to impress anyone. She should arrange her room however she wants.

WHAT?

Sure nightstands are fine. They usualy go next to the bed. Anyone going into her bedroom will probably not be interested in the nightstand anyway. Most 20yo people have mis mached hand me downs so it really does not matter. She should have whatever she needs to be comfortable and keep all of her stuff off the floor.

Oh the humanity....................

I would like it greatly if she wants to have me in her bedroom, in place of a night stand.
