For example:
You could tell people that if they have doubts, it means God is real since he predicted you would have doubts and the prediction is coming true.
You could say that if anyone tries to get you to deny your faith, then God is real because the bible says Satan will cause people to do this. Since they do, God exists.
It's all complete BS but some people are not smart enough to see through this.

Goethe: Things can be true without ever having been proven true, but it would be intellectually weak to profess a 100% belief in it without that proof.

Absolutely. Christianity, especially. Once you have made the first several leaps of faith (God exists, Christian concept of God is correct, God needed to kill his son to change a rule he made up, you must accept the metaphor of Jesus's martyrdom) it is nearly impossible to convinced out of them.
Religious beliefs function the exact way you have said. The social psychological principle of the escalation effect (entrapment) is at work here. This is a well documented tendency for humans to continue in a failing enterprise to justify sacrifices already made. The longer someone has been a Christian, the stronger the urge to justify the sacrifices made, even in the face of overwhelming evidence that their believes need to be revised.
The theology of Christianity encourages people to interpret scripture in a way that is congruent to mainstream Christianity. Don't kid yourself Christians, there is quite a bit of "interpretation" going on. There is more than one. All you have to do is look at how many different "literal" interpretations of the Bible there are (thousands of denominations).
Religions really do function as cults.

It seems to me you are thinking about it entirely wrong. No one says "God is real since He predicted you would have doubts...". The reality of God is something each individual much seek out and then the "proof" will be provided. I doubt the only reason for belief is lack of knowledge. A small minded individual is one who denies the existence of God.

And some of us are too smart to realize that which is true does not always need proof. Faith is not weak. Lack of Faith is sorrowful. In the end, we will see (or not) and the argument is fairly moot.

Seems like you want to answer your own question. Are you interested in the answer, or do you just want to insult engineers, lawyers, doctors, astronomers, philosophers, CEO's, accountants, musicians, artists and housewives that happen to have a belief system that you do not share?
