All the anger, ridicule, and acting like one is too intelligent to understand spiritual things is based on fear. That one is going to get punished soon. That is what evil wants us to think. As it is rebellion, or misusing our free will, and rejecting the best of what the next world has to offer. That gets us in the worst of what the next world has to offer.
On the believers side, it's the same. Having to constantly defend thier faith, and attacking the views of others is also fear. It shows a lack of conviction, or real belief in their own faith.

I have read some of the other religions and I have have heard some of the arguments of atheists. I believe that atheists have heard quite valid arguments for the existence of a God. These arguments are often logically tenable, but the atheists even refuses to give them at times even the slighest consideration. With the advances in science, the belief in the existence becomes even more provable!! The atheists is just outdated or outmoded. I do not need to study arguments for atheism for the truth is self-evident to me. When I hear of how Madylin Murray O'Hair died and how other atheists died, I find atheism appalling. One thing that I found that athesits don't subscibe to is the existence of the supernatural and his whole worldview is shaped on this. The atheists by choice has decided to be close-minded to the existence of other realities or dimensions - while Quantum Mechanics indicates that they exists. For instance when we deal with quantum physics we touch on a world that is supraphysical. Mathematicians have tentatively discovered that there are 16 dimensions. Particle psychics has found the existence of tachyons and neutrinos. Neutrinos are particles that can go through matter itself. Tachyons travel so fast that they seem to travel backwards in time. Again they found a particle that seems to be two places at one time. The invisible world can be inferred from the vivible world. The Bible says this: "Since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse" (Romans 19-20). There is also another technique calle Kirlian photography. Doctors use it to detect the aura around the body as a disgnostic tool. But it is explicitly stated by some that it is nothing to do with psychic matters but is merely scientific technique. However, it is still debatable.

There are two basic assumptions in social psychology: We want to be right and we want to be liked.
People spew such anger to:
1. Try to convince their opposition that they are right
2. So others of the same mind set will admire and like them.
Also. I believe that many of these people:
1. Are unemployed
2. Have nothing better to do
3. Are seeking attention
4. Feel powerless so they feel the need to insult other and put them down to feel powerful. Kind of like a school yard-bully. They really feel insecure, so to feel more powerful, they pick on someone.
5. They are not as secure with their beliefs as they might have you believe. As a result, they need to put others down to get validation to keep believing in what they do.
These people can believe in whatever they want, it is their right and there is nothing wrong with it. But they need to remember that you attract more bees with sugar than you do with vinegar.

This issue literally deals with an individuals very soul. An
area of onesself that isn't shared with anyone -- all that
comes out is hints of content and defenses to protect
the truth that runs around inside that innermost "ring".

In some cases sure.
But I am more than willing to accept the existence of a God with any form of tangible proof.
I am not angry about the situation, but am very concerned that if humans keep relying on religion for answers, that we will continue to kill each other over myth, and that effects my children.

Or is is love for my fellowman and wanting to share the joy I've found through worship?
I won't force my beliefs down your throat, but when you ask a question, I'll answer.
In the end, regardless of our individual beliefs, I hope we can shake hands and be friends.

Clever. That applies to BOTH sides.
Why do you suppose the two topics never brought up in polite society are religion and politics?

Religious or irreligious...theist or atheist...if you aren't interested in the effects religion has on people (and in our world) then you simply aren't paying attention.

I think it is a matter of respect. Neither side tends to respect the other. Both think the other side should believe what they believe.
