My teen daughter does volunteer work at a nursing home. This one old fellow asked her to do something very sexually disgusting. She ran from his room. Should she continue her volunteer work there, change homes, tell the staff, or just ignore it as "some crazy old man"?

All you can do is discuss this behavior with the nurse in charge. This may be a common thing for this resident. What will happen is, if this is a common occurrence, adjustments will be made in his plan of care. For instance, they may find it necessary to have two people in his room for cares instead of just one. It's a job that requires lots of patience and understanding. Your daughter is doing a good thing by volunteering. Just tell her to report any and all odd behaviors to the charge nurse.

Many people in nursing homes suffer from dementia. He most likely don't even remember the event. My advice is for her to stay there but do tell the staff and not work with that patient anymore.

Just ignore it as some crazy old man,if you get into that line of work you are bound to run across this more than once,My mom use to work in a nursing home and she has some stories to tell about perverted old men. There is nothing you can do about it but ignore it:)

as bad as it is, hes just some old lonely coop looking for action, sorry to say it like that. Have her continue to be there if she likes, but tell her to tell her supervisors to get another volunteer to help the man out, preferably a male volunteer, that'll stop him from doing it to other young women

She needs to tell the staff; if he's oriented enough to ask, he's a threat. Ignoring it tells him it's ok to do, and he'll just do it to someone else given the chance. Sickos get old too - that doesn't mean they stop being sickos.

Tell the staff. Many of those residents know exactly what they're saying. The few that don't will not follow up on their statements. Tell someone and let them handle it.
