Jehovah's Witnesses condemn the Catholic religion for putting the Church abouve the laws of God.

Jehovah's Witnesses put the Governing Body of their organization above the laws of God as well.

Do you see a similarity in these cases?

Pastor Billy...My real point is that the JW's do put the Governing Body before God.......I don't see that happening with the other Churches that you mentioned.

Yes, I do. But don't forget, the JWs rail against Protestants almost as much as they rage against RCs. Because both believe in the Trinity doctrine, they are equally reprehensible, say JWs. That is why Pastor Billy is wrong to say the JWs are more like the Protestants than they are like the RCs. The Trinity doctrine is like a red flag to the raging bull of the JWs! Both RCs and Protestants believe the Trinity doctrine and that should never be forgotten.

The question of authority is, however, valid. The Governing Body of the JWs cannot be questioned by JWs. Total loyalty to its decrees must be demonstrated (even if doubts are secretly harbored). The GB has even said (blasphemously) that the attitude of JWs to IT will determine whether JWs get everlasting life or are destroyed (Watchtower 1 Aug 1981 p26). Compare this with the adulation and devotion given to the Pope by RCs. Even worse, the Pope claims infallibility when pronouncing on God's decrees! Not even the GB has done that!

But in refutation of the JW who said, 'We never claim to be above God's laws', the GB has said God's law includes refusing whole blood transfusions, when the Bible says no such thing. That is surely on a par with the Pope saying Purgatory exists for the purification of souls who 'died truly penitent in the love of God before satisfying for their sins through worthy fruits of penance'. Blood transfusions are no more implied in scripture than is purgatory. Likewise, the GB says you cannot be a Christian if you smoke tobacco and will refuse to baptise anyone smoking or expel those baptised who do smoke! That's on a par with RCism detailing what are venial sins and what are mortal sins. I'll be here all night if I detail every similarity.

Suffice to say that JWs are no more like Catholics than they are like Protestants. They are an unholy amalgum of both. Yet without the freedom born of Protestantism, it is unlikely they would have emerged in the late 1800s, as they did. That is why Christians must realise, 'There but for the grace of God go I'. We have myriad denominations because a few brave men challenged the claim of supreme authority of the Roman Church. How tragic that such freedom should come full circle to create groups that allow a few men to control the lives of millions. The Church should be ever reforming!

Pastor Billy says: wow wow wow, as the Jehovah Witness Organization is a pseudo-Protestant sect I say it has more in common with Protestantism than Catholicism.

You've decided to mention "Governing Body" what about the Southern Baptist Convention of pastors? How about the Protestant Congregationalists who abide by the leadership of elders? Using this type of argument neglects the reality of leadership structures right across the vast span of Protestant denominations.

addendum: Who rejects the Father and Son just like the Jehovah Witnesses? Not Catholicism but what about these,

1. the Unitarian denomination- a Protestant denomination
2. Oneness Pentecostals - a Protestant denomination
3. Early Seventh Day Adventist groups - a Protestant denomination

The further one moves away from first Christianity, Catholicism, the greater the development of heresy. All these Protestant groups and others each day are now attacking the ancient Christology of the first Christian Church.

addendum#2: I believe the onus is still on you to prove any similarity. How is it that either group "puts the organization above the laws of God"? Do you believe in a law of authority? Do you believe in natural law or moral law? Which one teaches against these and why?

I currently see no similarity as I see no proof. All you've provided is an opinion I simply ask, prove your opinion!

"Jehovah's Witnesses put the Governing Body of their organization above the laws of God as well."

Huh? Where do you come up with these things?

No I do not see ant similarity between Jehovah's Witnesses and the Catholic church, nor do I see any similarity to any other religious organization.

I know of no other group that publicly tries to obey Jesus' command to spread the good news. Yes one or two people from this church or that church may attempt to do so but as a whole? Not happening!

sure, at a similar time as i don't comprehend however if it somewhat is a "risky" similarity, there is unquestionably a similarity between the two. in actuality, the Watchtower (JW) faith is ruled via 9 elderly adult men in manhattan referred to as the Governing physique. those adult men set the doctrine for JWs. it works like this: if a particular thought wins the help of a 2-thirds majority of the Governing physique, then it is going to become "regulation" for the Witnesses. An occasion of this is the JW know-how of the "era" stated via Jesus in Luke 21. From 1995 until eventually 2008, the JWs believed that the "era" meant wicked people residing interior the final days. nicely, in 2008 the Governing physique desperate that the era certainly meant *anointed JWs* residing interior the final days. it somewhat is a a hundred and eighty-degree turn: sooner or later all JWs believe the "era" is wicked people, day after today all JWs believe that the "era" is the anointed bride of Christ! In 2008, the Governing physique printed a Watchtower article explaining this modification. After that, each and every JW replaced into required to settle for the recent know-how. So, this is only an occasion of ways the Governing physique has finished administration over the ideals of JWs--precisely like the Pope has administration over practising Catholics. however if or not this is "risky"--i will circulate away that decision to others. even nevertheless it is sparkling that there is an incredible similarity.

I see the similarity. However, I still think Catholics are true Christians because the believe in Trinity. You are Christian if you accept God Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Suzi Baptist -- good for you. But do spare a thought for how that Bible you're judging us with managed to get into your hands in the first place.

I see this in all counterfeit christianities. Included the mormons as well. Also the pedophiles that find shelter and are allowed to continue to do their dirty deeds in these "christian cults."
