I had an assessment with the Community Mental Health Team on the 17th September. At the assessment, the lady said she'd call within a week. She didn't. I phoned the CMHT the other day, who said they'd send me a letter within 10 - 15 days. I've still not heard anything.
Last time they did this, they eventually got back to me saying that I wasn't ill enough and they couldn't help me.
Is that what they are going to do this time?!
I don't know what I'll do if they say that. I suppose I'll go back to my GP and tell her that there is no point me being on a useless medication and coming to see her every month when there is nothing they can do and I won't be returning or taking medication any more.

What I meant to say is that they said that I will recieve a letter 10-15 days after my initial appointment. Its been 17 days, so maybe I am being impatient. The woman on the phone wouldn't tell me about my specific case as I don't remember the name of the woman I saw.

Go back to your GP and tell him you are having trouble getting the results of your evaluation. Maybe he can get a straight answer out of them. Good luck.

This doesnt sound like a good situation. If you think you are ill enough to need a community psychiatric nurse they should give you one. If you are on medication it proves there is a problem, i would phone the CMHT back and ask to speak to a nurse and explain how concerned you are that you want help but feel let down that you are not getting any. It is a service that should be provided for people who need it, and if you think you need it, get on that phone and tell them how you feel hun. Dont be fobbed off by someone saying you dont need help when you think you do. Go back to your GP too and tell them you feel let down and you really want this help to get better. I wish you all the luck in the world sweetie.

You say when you rang "the other day" that you would get a letter in the next 10-15 days, well you must be patient and wait for it. It isnt necessarily negative, but you must realise that there are hundreds of other people they have to deal with, as well as one on one appointments. Wait for your letter, then if it is negative, contact your gp again and see if you can be referred elsewhere, maybe out of your locality. Your gp obviously thinks you need help and support, otherwise you wouldnt have been referred. I think you are thinking too far ahead in a negative way. There ARE other avenues of support available.

hi,i see questions like yours quite often and no,you will not be ignored, unfortunately units like the cmht are always overstretched and waiting times for new cases run over the time frame that they give you,by all means call them to inquire on your progress or ask your doctor to do it,when you do see them be open and honest and take on board the advise your given and remember that the medication you may be asked to take is only for your benefit, stick with it,be patient, the results can only be good for you, good luck!!

Wait a bit...
When I first got referred to the CMHT, I had to wait 4 months just to get a letter from them.

Sounds like you need some immediate help. I have been depressed in the past and if I had to wait 2 weeks for someone to decide if I were depressed enough or not, I wouldn't have been able to continue. Call the MD, there must be someone/place she can find?

It's been just over 2 weeks since your appointment. Do you think that the whole system revolves around you alone?
