The only way this could happen would be if you over-drafted and did not pay it back.

Then the bank could send the account to collections and that would show on your credit report.

Checking and savings accounts are not loans so banks do not report them to the credit bureaus.

No banks do not report to the credit agencies unless you are late with a loan, or decide not to pay the fees and the overdraft. That is why they have overdraft protection. I would personally stop it because there are allot of fees associated with it. You only get reported to Chex systems, if you overdraft, and then walk away from the account not because you over drafted as some have suggested.

Frequently overdrafting your bank account will get your account closed and you listed on Chexsystem.

You need to keep better records of your spending. Use a check register for your checks AND those debits. Keep your own balance. Don't rely on what the online bank statement says or the ATM receipt. They don't have all your transactions.

Also, set an amount that you never go below. When your balance gets to that point, don't use your debit card or write any checks. You'll save a small fortune in overdraft fees.

not to mention the fact that a lot of times that trip to Sonic on your debit card for breakfast at 5.00 cost you overdraft fees that total possibly upwards of 30.00 pretty expensive burrito huh?
