I was in a car accident a few days ago, in which the accident was not my fault, ( the roads that we were driving on were wet and the other driver's car some what lost control and skidded into mine coming around a curve). I called my insurance after the accident, but I only had liability coverage...(my insurance company will only pay for property damage resulting from the accident and for damage done to the other party's car, but not mine. The other driver apparently has the same type of insurance as me. Anyway am I supposed to call the other persons insurance company and see if they will pay to have my car fixed (since it was kind of the other drivers fault), or is calling mine enough?

We did not call the police after the accident, we just exchanged insurance information. Isn't it to late to file a police report? Aren't you supposed to leave the cars exactly where they are and the call the police? Because if so, we both drove our cars to the side of the road a bit because we were blocking traffic.

If it was the other person's fault, you call their's for the damage they caused. You still need to report it to your insurance company.
Were the police called, a report filed, if not DO IT!
The other driver caused the accident (according to the information you gave) They are responsible to pay all damages.

You did fine.. as long as no one is injured and both parties exchange info a police report is NOT required if neither side wants one. Its a good idea, however, to try to document your accident as best as possible. Camera phones do a great job on this and almost all phones now have them.
Anyway.. call YOUR insurance company and report the accident and relay the particulars. They will guide you from there and work in your interest (thats what you pay them for).
Most states have a mandatory accident reporting.. make sure that the insurance company will do that for you because it is YOUR responsibility..not theirs and if they forget its YOUR drivers license.
If you have collision coverage, you will be able to get your car fixed directly (less your deductible) and your company will get the money (and the deductible) back from the other side. If they do not get anything then eventually you can file a (small claims) lawsuit to recover the deductible from the other driver.
all in all its a pain in the *** but a simple pain in the ***.

If you got his insurance information you should be able to file the claim with his insurance company. They'll work with a police report and adjusters to determine fault and if it's as you say, his company will pay for the damages to your vehicle under his liability coverage. You can file with your company as well and they'll probably subrogate it to the other driver's company.
Add:
It is too late to file a crash report, but that's okay, the adjusters can compare sides of the story and determine fault that way. Don't worry, just file with his ins. co. and if you don't feel comfortable doing that call your ins. co. and give them all the info you have.
BTW, it's okay to move the cars if you can if they're blocking traffic, the police report is just a formal document with a lot of info about what happened.

It does not matter if you file it under your policy or not its a CLAIM OK. your rates are going to go up no matter what so get over it now. I understand how you feel but insurance company does not separate anything you have a not at fault CLAIM ON YOUR POLICY NOW. get the stupid er bill out of the way before you go to collections and keep in mind without an attorney the insurance knows your rights better than you so what happens if you keep saying no for 2 years? after 2 years you get nothing? that has happened. do not depend on any one elses advice unless its someone who worked as an attorney and knows the ropes. typically the settlements are a lot lower with no attorney its up to you do what you think is right good luck

since you have liability coverage only, your insurance company will not do anything since they will not be paying;
you need to call his insurance company and file a claim; since there was no police report, it is possible they dont know who you are or have you contact info; they will investigate it and if they determine that the other driver is at fault, they will pay for the damages to your auto;
liability coverage pays for damage to other peoples property, in this case, your auto; now if the other company determines he is not at fault, they will not pay for your damages; if the other company determines you are at fault, then your company would have to step in and investigate if they owd for his damages under your liability coverage;
good luck

you call your insurance and tell them what happened. They will figure out that you are not at fault. Your insurance will then call the other insurance company to pay for your damages using the other person's liability.

Since it was his fault you call his company and tell them that he hit you that way they can determine the amount of money to pay you for your damages.
