im a tattoo artist so ive seen this a couple times lol. it all depends. but in most cases, yes. but in your case, youre talkin some small kanji on your wrist. so even if it does, its tiny. touch ups arent bad. especially when theyre small. but to get a tattoo entirely redone is horrible in some cases. especially cover-ups. skin is never the same once tattooed. im covered in em, so its a bit different in my experience. but when all is said n done, your touch up wont hurt as bad. especially if he uses a shader needle. the liner needles usually hurt a bit more because theyre a more precise pain. the shaders are spread a bit more.

i had mine on my hip redone last month.. and yeah it hurt more.. but it was quick at least.. it only took ten minutes at the most and i have a kanji also... so i'd imagine they'd be around the same size..
your tattoo is now technically scar tissue.. so it's sensitive and that's why it hurts a little more the second time around..

no it will not hurt more because the artist will not have to use as much ink. just make sure it is completely healed for 4-6 months before you get it re-done

I WOULD GUESS ONLY IF THE ONE BEING REDONE IS NOT YET HEALED, THEN I'M SURE IT'LL HURT SOME. BUT HOW MUCH MORE COULD IT REALLY HURT THAN GETTING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?

No, maybe even less because you know how it all goes. Unless youre actually having something removed which apparently can be really painful.
