Once Saved, always Saved applies here although a person could follow a "False Teacher". Since we are "Indwelt" with the Holy Spirit, (if we are not "Quenching" the Spirit) He will "Alert / Guide" us through Scripture "Proving & Amplifing" the Word causing Us to "Identify False Teaching" and keeping Us from being "Deceived". If however, we are in a state of "Apostasy", we can Easily become "Deceived"!!! John

Just how close to the truth is the deception Christ is warning about?

Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Thats describing a false religion about Jesus Christ. But the Elect will not be decived.

One of the deceptions, as one poster above stated, is the concept that the reward of the saved is to spend eternity in heaven. That is not Biblical.
Nor is the concept that the saved go to heaven immediately after they die (what use then is a resurrection?). Not is the concept that the wicked who have died have or will recieve eternal life in a place of torment (Romans 6:23).

There are many deceptions. Only the Elect, or the Firstfruits of God will not be decieved. Only they will have a part in the first resurrection (Revelations 20) the rest of the dead will not live again until after the millenium.

Even then, God is coming to set up His throne on earth ( Again, see Revelations), so those who wish to go to heaven are going to miss all the fun.

Goethe (first answerer) is right. If deceived to trust something that is contrary to the Lord.

For example, believing that you can be saved by works alone without requiring to have faith in Jesus; that is beliving you are good enough to enter heaven without the need of Jesus dying for your sins... Can the deceived enter heaven? No.

Of course not!

There is no way you are going to heaven. You have been deceived by the Christ Illusion. There is no heaven to go to.

Satan deceives us with negative thoughts.

A thought won't send you to hell---but not asking Jesus Christ to come into your heart and be the Lord of your life--WILL.

Satan will deceive people into thinking they are not worthy or of value to God---BUT THAT IS A LIE.

God believes in people--whether or not they believe in Him.

Satan will also attack you if you do not have adequate rest and sleep.
He will definitely attack you when you are down.

I think God gave us the ability to CHANGE OUR NEGATIVE THOUGHT BEFORE WE FINISH THINKING IT--and change it to our good.

If we RECEIVE what all God has done for us, we can see the LOVE He has for us.

Make a list of 5 things you are thankful for------family, friends, a bed, a roof over our heads, our health--my goodness ----GOD IS HERE!

oops, did I preach?
Did I answer your question? hehehe

Well, yeah, if you've honestly been deceived it's not your fault. How can you expect to handle deception when the nature of it is to catch you unawares?
