Everyone uses the Old testament theories as tool for anti gay rhetoric. Is it because people who lived back then were taught that only heterosexual men had rights?

Well, true transsexualism is a medical condition, not a type of homosexuality. So all the answers comparing TSism to gay male sex is off. Likewise, true-TSism is not transvestism (which, like homosexuality, is clearly banned in scripture). Even your question confuses the legitimate medical condition of TSism with the sin of sodomy.

Oh, the one poster forgets one source for female hormones. Women were pregnant a lot in those days. When a woman is pregnant, she releases a lot of hormones into her urine. Plus then, like today, there were plants with estrogenic properties. Whether they distilled urine from pregnant females or took herbs, we don't know.

Plus, the proper name for an MtF TS who has surgery and likes men is a heterosexual woman. But your question ignores lesbian MtF TSs who like women, even after surgery. A primitive society may consider them to be straight men. Likewise, a good number of TSs don't have sex at all. Being women inside, having male equipment removed or rendered useless through drugs, and not having female parts, sex is not a high priority on the list for a true TS.

But remember, ancient societies didn't believe anyone could "be" gay. It was all based on behavior. Sodomy and other sex between men was considered something anyone could do, and thus all were forbidden from doing it. Now, they did recognize that some men were more tempted than others to practice male on male "sex." However, they only could stone the ones they actually saw doing it.

22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertained unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment; for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.

It wasn't about rights. It was about establishing what is acceptable to God and pertains to His people as He had called them particularly to Himself as a unique group of people. Those laws still apply today and always will no matter how prevailant this type of act becomes. In the last day it will be as it was in the Days of Noah. At that time..things were pretty bad. Think also of the cities of Lot...Sodom and Gommorah. What society finds acceptable and tolarates and give rights to will only concur with what the bible says will take place in the end times...are we on that brink? As faith systems pass away and secular humanism expands...this very environment will be established so...figure it from there. Love in Christ, ~J~

I think they were aware of perversions - eg there are laws regarding bestiality. Some of the peoples around Israel had gods that involved all sorts of sexual rites. You could find out about them - Dagon, Baal, Ashteroth - to some degree, although information may be sketchy because they probably didn't leave many records.

Transsexualism has existed as long as society; there is evidence that it was known, and catered for, in neolithic societies, which makes it very unlikely that it would have been unknown in 'biblical' times.

What don't you understand about it being an abomination....One of the many reasons God flooded the earth was these forbidden acts.... You better read the new testament also because it backs up some of the old testament principals....

Many cultures have had deviant sexual practises. Spartans used to have pederastic realtionships, the Chinese Emperors used to keep eunuchs as servants. It just so happens that biblical society deemed homosexuality to be sinfully deviant and probably had no use of eunuchs. People back then would be too frightened to 'come out' for fear of ostracization and transsexuals just didn't exist.

Well transexualism would have been almst impossible wouldnt it no tablets to grow breasts and if the genitals were removed bleeding .
The closesrt would have been eunuchs and not all of them survived the operation
As for Hemaphoditism they would have been revered as a God .Did you ever see Fellinis Satyricon

The Old Testament does not contain theories......it contains truth. Homosexuality is wrong according to God's standards no matter what we think or feel about it.
