If you really meant to use a "u" then I can understand the bible dashers jumping all over you. If you don`t believe in god you can`t be taking an imaginary beings name in vain. However if you are Irish you would have misspelt the would as it is "Feic" meaning "to see" . So whats all the fuse its probable just a missunderstand of the Irish language.

Apparently it is bad to take the Lord's name in vain. I think if there is a Lord then he would have a fine sense of humour, and would assess the profanity in it's right context. Then, if he didn't like what you said about him, he would strike you down with a bolt of lightening, or he would laugh along with you.
PS I liked Father Ted and love it when religious people take the mick out of themselves.

Of course it is, but you don't sound like the kind of person who has any connection with any religious faith, so it clearly has no significance in your life.
You seem like the little child who suddenly discovers that "Poo-poo" is a bit rude and they can get a reaction from the grown ups by saying it.
Don't worry, in most cases people mature through this stage and develop a wider and more expressive vocabulary.

I may be an atheist but, although hypercritical preachers need to brought down a peg or two, a little respect for the gentle people of the pews is called for.

There is a huge misconception about what this means. Taking the Lord's name means saying in His name this will happen or I will do this in His name. There are countless examples of this in the Bible.

The original translation of the fictional character known as Jeesus to english speaking people is prounounced Yaheshua...So to truly do it you would have to say Yaheshua freckin Christ...Now that would be a sin.

Yes, any use of God's name for any other purpose than to communicate WITH Him, or tell someone else ABOUT Him IS using the Lord's name in vain, and is the same as blasphemy.
