I think that one reason why the Evangelicals support Israel so much is because they see the reestablishment of Israel as part of God's ultimate plan in which Israel will be reestablished and the Second Coming of Jesus will occur. This also reminds me of some infomercials I've seen while flipping through some of the religious channels on TV. The infomercials ask Evangelicals to send money to help send Jews from the former Soviet Union to Israel. In a scene from one of these infomercials, an Evangelical woman says something like, "The Bible says that anyone who helps Israel will be blessed and I want to be blessed." I think this scene speaks volumes, because it represents the fact that the Evangelicals' support for Israel is motivated by anything but altruism or a simple concern for their fellow man. If anything, they seem to think that if they can hasten the return of all the Jews to Israel they can also hasten the return of Jesus.

Whether they want to or not, it ultimately doesn't matter. The Baptists tried this a few years ago. They said they were making it their business to convert Jews and even printed up a pamphlet on how to convert Jews complete with pictures and everything. They failed miserably and this will too. Every Jew I know found that so amusing and silly. Please...any Christians who feel that it's necessary to try to convert Jews...please do not waste your time. We are happy, fulfilled and content being who we are....aren't you?

Because they believe that Jews are living in complete ignorance of the truth and want to convert them so they can see the light. Same reason any religion wishes to convert anyone.

Villagers furious with Missionaries:
Jubilant at seeing the relief trucks loaded with food, clothes and the much-needed medicines the villagers, many of who have not had a square meal in days, were shocked when the nuns asked them to CONVERT before distributing biscuits and water.

I dont consider myself an evangelical . Many people here call me a fundie. I call myself simply a follower of Christ. He is my Lord. Personally I pray specificly for 2 Jewish Rabbis and one other very righteous Jew . I pray that Jesus will reveal himself to them like he did to Paul on the road to Damascus or like he has to many Muslims today . I also pray for the Peace of Jerusalem and all Israel. I pray for Jews out of the land to return to Israel to receive their Messiah who is coming soon. (Jesus) I have a love for Israel and Jerusalem in particular and pray that God will redeem his chosen people as he has promised. I have no doubt that God will make good on his promise, I am praying for it because I know it to be his will. God loves the Jews and so should all we Christians. Unfortunately there are many who name the name of Jesus that hold to anti-semitic replacement theology. The Catholics, some Methodists, some Presbyterians and Lutherens and Anglicans as well hold to this teaching that the Church has replaced Israel as God's chosen people. this is a lie. I try to tell righteous Jews that we have more in common with them then they might think. We are both waiting for the Messiah to come. They think it is the first time we think it is the 2nd.

Are you pinning all followers of Catholicism/Christianity to this one story? I was not taught this way... so to answer your question, not all "evangelical" Christians want to convert the Jews.
Also, why must you ask like it's an official fact? You should be capable of asking a serious question without weasling your way into it.

unfortunately there are many Christians who will do whatever they can to exacerbate an apocalypse. this may be one motivation. I question whether it is out of genuine compassion or concern for others well-being as much as it is part of a fundamentalist agenda

Christians are taught to love the Jews and we want them to go to heaven also. The bible says there is no other name given among men whereby we may be saved, that name is Jesus. Jesus is the Messiah.

Mr Jessop
Your beliefs are based on a total misreading of the old testament.
Jesus is NEVER mentioned by name, not once.
The OT makes it crystal clear that when the real messiah appears, certain things will happen, one of them being peace on this earth for all mankind.
The Jews back then knew all about the signs; they would have welcomed Jesus if those signs had become manifest. But they didn't.
Paul, who started Christianity, never even MET Jesus.
As for the actual question:
Christians have always had this fixation with converting Jews, in particular. Perhaps they can't bear the fact that Jesus himself was a Jew, and that their own faith has its' roots in Judaism.

The Jewish people are Gods chosen people. Evangelical Christians love the Jewish people and want all the Jewish people to know the fullness of Gods love for them. To know forgiveness and joy in the Son of God. That was my husbands answer, my answer is because muslims want to convert the infadels as well.
