I believe that God is Love. I see Love everyday. It isn't hiding. I'm not really into the Bible - so the whole "God's image" thing - well I can take it or leave it. But I don't think God is hiding from us. God is the Power of Love - and we can use it if we so choose.
Namaste!!

We don't have an instinctive urge to hide from our children, because God doesn't hide from us, He is ever present. We choose to hide from or ignore Him.
If you meant "why don't we have an instinctive urge to hide from our parents?", we do when when we do something we know is wrong in their site.

I did. Still do. Try to hide from my children, that is. Thinking back I suspect that that was nurture and not nature though.
I am told that not all children are equally frightful but haven't seen that for myself.
I seem to have lost the god part of the question, I guess he can fend for himself.

Well.....I can't speak for all parents here, but when our last child left, my friend & I went out on the roads leading to our house & switched around the street signs!!! haven't seen the kids since!!! Really can save on laundry supplies!!! Funny, all our kids have IQs' over 150 but went to Public Schools giving them No sense of Direction!!! We will change the signs back once we hear we have Grandkids. John

God does not have the instinct to hide from His children, it fact Adam and Eve's relationship with God was very intimate. It was original sin that causes what you see as god hiding from His children. It is not God that hides, it is us. If you wish to restore your relationship with God, repent of your sins and turn back to God, stop hiding and seek God, for the kingdom is near.

Hide from our children? or Try to let them be the people they are going to be by the free will that we all have.
It's hard not to be overbearing and overprotective. Especially when your child is mucking up the waters...

My Father God Almighty is only hidden from those who are Blinded with ignorance and self righteous pride that tells them I can do it my own way!
He is not hidden from His children I know him well..
God himself blinded those who think he is hidden so they couldn't see Him, for what right have you to see him in Glory if you don't believe in him .
But stand assured My God Adonai will not be mocked for long, and you will tell and will bow on your knees and Confess Call out loud that he and He alone is Lord.

Sin is what separated man from God.
A man cannot look at God's face and live. That is because of our sinful nature.
