The 18 yr old is my daughter, and THANKFULLY she has NO interest. He has offered to buy her things and take her traveling, to me that is like trying to "tempt" her. My friend even said it is like saying "want some candy little girl"....freaks me out!

MakeItOnMyOwn.....I'm worried about you. Yes, that IS a crisis and I hope you have someone you can talk with about your cousin's very inappropriate attraction to you. This is what I'm talking about.

I think there's a problem with that. He is twice her age. He needs to find someone age appropriate. She can't go to things he may want to attend (21 and over) and if he likes to go to bars, she sits at home while he is at the bar. I think it is in a way pedophilia even though she is 18.

You can never tell...I have dated women both older and younger than me since I was 21 and I'll tell you now: there is NO standard for humans as far as compatibility goes! You can have a 33-year old girl that's as silly as a 15-year old guy and an 18-year old girl that's as mature as a 40-year old man. The sexual portion of it is random as well, as some women don't peak until well into their 30's or even 40's and some guys(like me!) can go until the cows come home! The only problem I'd say he's probably going to have the hardest time trying to find is common interests, as her musical, experiencial and educational background is going to limit her ability to fit in his social circles quite a bit.

Sometimes it gives the impression that the guy wants someone he can control. I'm not saying that they guy is smarter, but being older and more established considering the age difference gives him a little more say-so in things.
Personally I prefer an equal in a mate. Don't get me wrong I still like being the Alpha male but its also nice to have someone that mentally challenges you and can keep you on your toes. I think it makes you stronger as a couple.
Just me personally, I have 1 daughter, and as far as girlfriends go,I would rather have a mate instead of another daughter. Hope that makes sense.
But to be unbiased I guess it depends on the people involved. There may be a good bond between the two. Whatever works.

So here's my viewpoint as to what could be going on here:
1. The guy is extremely immature and has found that women his own age won't put up with his immaturity. His immaturity wouldn't seem come off as immature to an 18-year-old female.
2. The 18-year-old is extremely attractive and the guy wants to really, really get into her pants (or the guy is just into females in their late teens).
3. The guy is damaged goods and feels the need to be controling in his romantic relationships with jealousy, verbal abuse/put-downs, possibly physical abuse. In my opinion (and I've been in May-December relationships), a younger female is more likely to put up with this behavior than an older female.
4. The 18-year-old female may just happen to be extremely mature and has an usual amount of life experiences, making her an early 30-something mentally and emotionally (this is probably the least likely answer though).
I was born into a May-December marriage and have been involved in May-December romantic relationships in the past. In my experience and opinion, I think answer 2 and 3 are usually what's going on is those relationships.
In general, I guess my opinion is that the relationship is not a good thing. However, to each their own: if works for them, then that's their business and not mine.

the 15 year gap at a younger age is different than..
say at 55 and 40
at a younger age people don't really know who they are yet and probably don't have a lot in common
the 33 year old motivation is sex
the 18 year old motivation would trying to be older and it really does not work
for a lasting relationship you need several common interest to keep it going
for older people who have lived life and have discovered them self it would be OK but at this age I think that it is a waste of the 18 years time

I would be highly concerned. The main question I always ask is what does the 33 year old man have in common with a 18 year old girl? and why can't he date someone in his own age range? these are questions that would make me the most concerned. To answer your question: no, it is not ok.

I think the 33 year old man is going thru a mid life crisis and needs a young girl on his arm to make him feel better.
sorry to be crude but doesn't every 33 year old man want a hot young bod!!
I think if she is legal .. and if she is game and you are game then why the heck not.
I say all the power to ya

I think he is only thinking of himself and not her. You can look at it this way in 33 more years she be 51 and he'll only be 66. So that doesn't sound as bad as the 18 and 33.

From personal experience, it'll never work out.
People change by the time they're in their mid 20's. Even if she loves him now, by the time she's 25 she'll probably detest him. In the end, she'll definitely understand why women his own age won't date him.
