If so, why and at what age did you learn it?

Thank you.

No. The story of a resurrected "savior" is neither unique nor original to christianity.

Did a historical Jesus exist?
http://www.nobeliefs.com/exist.htm
[Excerpt]

ALL CLAIMS OF JESUS DERIVE FROM HEARSAY ACCOUNTS

No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus got written well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources derive from hearsay accounts.

Hearsay means information derived from other people rather than on a witness' own knowledge.

Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony, and nor does honest modern scholarship. Hearsay provides no proof or good evidence, and therefore, we should dismiss it.

Yes!! It is the basis for my belief! I learned it at a very young age, but didn't understand why until I was older. So, I wasn't brain washed or anything. Christianity is a Choice each one makes. It's a personal relationship with the Lord. And, it's not just a "story" It's the TRUTH! God Bless.

Edit: Tabitha- We do need to get one thing straight. Neither I, nor anyone I know as a Christian blame the Jews for Jesus' death. The PHARISEES were the ones who turned Him over to the Romans, and the Romans Crucified Him. This does not mean we blame all Jewish people for Jesus' death. BTW, it was God's plan for salvation.
I would never condemn the Jewish people. God Bless

One aspect of the 'story' makes no sense.

The Romans were the only ones who practised crucifixion, and they killed Jesus, yet Christianity insists the Jews are responsible.

This one belief is unfair, untrue, and is at the very core of Christian anti semitism, when and where it exists.

The Jews were totally at the mercy of the Romans at that time. No way did the Romans take requests as to who to murder!

The new testament accounts of the crucifixion were written after the event, and of course the first Christians were not about to make enemies of the Romans by telling the truth about how they killed Jesus. So instead, the Jews get blamed.

I think it's time that this was clarified!

The crucifixion and resurrection of Christ is the basis of Christian faith. Without belief in this and that Jesus is the Son of God sent specifically to be a sacrifice for our sin, there is no Christianity and no hope for eternal life. I was taught that Jesus loved me from the time I was a small child. The first song I was taught was "Jesus Loves Me". I believed it then and I believe it more so now that I have a better understanding of the Gospel of Christ.

Yes, I believe it, for Jesus' death paralleled the way OT sacrifices were prepared from birth to the grave/altar. Had it been done any differently, it would've nullified the covenant between God and Abraham and rendered Jesus' death a needless loss. I was in my teens when I first started learning about it and it took me a LONG time to really understand it all.

Yes, I believe the story of Jesus' Crucifixion. It is a BIG part of the basis of Christianity. You can't have Christianity with out it.

The name Jesus appears in written tablets from that era ,and there probably was a guy of this name crucified. The reason i think is the churches of that time wanted physical proof to show the followers that god existed so i think that the whole story did happen ,as the church created it and a false son of god . to show the world .but he become to powerful where the church was threatened so they same priests and church leaders that created the whole plan turned on him and ,asked the Romans to destroy him and then to impress the followers they said he had been raised from the tomb.
Jesus was said to be Jewish and so were the priests that had him killed off.

i don't think of that replaced into the component. the component replaced into that they made fake testimony against him and likely they have been jealous. Jesus did plenty for them and made plenty miracles yet they nonetheless did not settle for him. countless the monks and government based their ideals on the regulation of moses and he did some issues a criminal offense because of the fact in a feeling he replaced into making the regulation suited and doing issues with the regulation that they did not comprehend. additionally they have been mad at him because of the fact he stated he replaced into the Son of God. For this they crucified him, not understanding that he quite replaced into the Son of God. It replaced into all in actuality carried out out of jealousy. yet there's a passage interior the Bible, uncertain the place yet remember reading it, which tells us to obey the regulation and the government ( i believe this is the jist of it).

Yes, I do. I learned it when I was very young, but I didn't start to believe it until not too long ago.

Why do I believe it? Because people very close to that time say that's what happened. Even in apocryphal texts that date before the 4th century state that Jesus was crucified, and that He actually died.
