He will use his potty chair and is fully continent of both bowel and bladder but he won't use the big potty. We bought a couple of different kinds of seats to use on it but he screams if we try to sit him on it. He will pee it in the big potty though.

Have you gotten him a stool to use in the bathroom? A lot of kids love this because it gives them some independence. They have ones with diego on them, and other characters. Try getting him one of those, and then leave his seat on the potty at all times, not just when he needs it, this will help him get used to it and not feel so scared. Being able to get on the big potty by himself should help too, he won't feel stuck. Maybe put a handle on the wall or somewhere near the toilet to help him get up too. Make a chart and put a sticker on it each time he goes on the big potty, after 10 times he gets a reward, something small. Good Luck.

What worked for my son and daughter is The Potty Stool http://www.thepottystool.com This stool makes every toilet kid-sized. The handles on this stool make all the difference. My kids potty trained quickly because they were so excited about this stool. They loved using the big toilet because they knew that is what everyone uses. I like that it is sturdy and safe and got them out of diapers fast. The best part is kids use it for years. Hope this helps.

Just give him time and don't push him. Continue to praise him for using his own potty chair. Children can be very afraid of the big potty -- I know my little one was terrified of falling in. Your little guy will use it when the time is right.

It can be pretty scary to sit on that big toilet for a little guy. I wouldn't force him to...but bring it up every once in a while and try to figure out why he's scared of it...
