I'd stay away from Sydney as it's too damn expensive! Melbourne is a good choice for a chef. From what I've heard, we have a chef shortage. Try http://www.seek.com.au

G'day!
I'm sorry but I can't help you with the whole immigration thing, but if you're able to get into our wonderful country I just thought i'd let you know you should definitely consider looking for work in Melbourne. Melbourne (my home) is known as the foodie capital of Australia and if you are a chef, you will love it here. We have so many fantastic resturants/cafes that I'm sure would be interested in you. If Melbourne is not your thing, Sydney is another possible option. I would say that if you are new to the country definitely try Melbourne or Sydney because they are the cities with the biggest opportunities.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Impossible. Immigration to Australia is a very long, complicated process and is totally based on you having a profession on their needed professions list and being very skilled and experienced in that profession. Unskilled people have no chance at all. Go to school in the U.S. and prepare for a career or profession to make your life in the U.S. more successful. Immigration to most countries is based on you having a family member there to sponsor you or being a very skilled worker in a profession they need. They do not seek or accept unskilled workers. Really, go to school...give yourself a future. If you would like to work and travel in Australia for one year, you could apply for a work and travel visa. You need a minimum of $5000 cash to start with and must be less than 30 years old.
