I would say I am 98% an Athiest.

Now, let's be clear on this. This DOES NOT mean that 2% of my thinks that:

* Heaven and Hell exists
* that Jesus or any other prophet could perform miracles
etc.,

But it means that 2% of me thinks in this way:

* Although Creationism in any scripture is totally absurd, there is a strageness to the origin of the universe that may indicate something outside of Nature. Of course, this may well be down to man's incomprehension of certain Quantum laws, that may mean that matter can spring into existence by perfectly natural means. This sounds impossible, but we know that it can and did happen by virtue of the observable universe.

* That there can be no evidence that God or a spititual 'entity' can 100% be disproven (stemming from Agnosticism)

And that's it. It's the origin of the Big Bang that has me thinking. Neither Religion or Science can provide a satisfactory explination.

So what % of an Atheist are you?

Firstly, I am not Agcostic. I strongly reason that there is no God whatsoever, but surely if you are 100% CERTAIN that God does not exist that that means that you have evidence?

I think it tends to follows a binomial distribution ("yes" or "no"), not some continuous distribution.

Since I may have many of the thoughts you have, I am pretty much all atheist. However, I would consider myself more of a nontheist. What is this? One who does not believe it is necessary to adhere to or follow a god, even if a god was to exist. It leaves open the possibility but does not require a necessity.

As for your last comment it is a bit arrogant. What difference does it make at this time whether or not science can provide a satisfactory explanation as to the origins of the universe? Science, for all intents and purposes is very young in its formal application. Give humanity time to move forward. Science does not give explanations either. Some have said science can only provide a comment to what is currently known at this time, period.

I would say you're 98% agnostic, rather than 98% atheist, but I guess that's more a question of terminology.

I'm 100% atheist.

Also, the Big Bang doesn't say that matter "sprang" into existence. The matter was always there, albeit condensed into a point. The Big Bang explains the expansion of spacetime.

Can one be 100% Atheist and at the same time 100% open-minded? After all, when someone asks me if I believe in God, I say, "no." I don't say, "mostly no."

Somehow I don't see that wonder at the universe discounts atheism at all. And being convinced by the evidence before me does not close me off to more evidence. My non-belief in elves, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Vishnu, or Voldemort is also 100%. However, given sufficient evidence, I could be convinced that my earlier belief was incorrect. That does not, however, serve to make me doubt my assessment of the evidence I have.

99.9%. You may wish to read more current theories on the big bang as Super String theory seems to have resolved the singularity and the associated problems. Much of uncertainty stemming from probabilities of this universe happening by chance are dealt with easily by either the multiverse, i.e. the singularity is actually a common event and there are an infinite amount of universes, or the theory that this universe infinitely expands and contracts. In either case, all possibilities are infinitely probable.

Well, my da is an atheist, so I'd say I'm 50%.

But I disagree with the concept.

I'm 100% polytheist, and 100% certain creationism is wrong and no monotheistic god can exist as described.

99% athiest and the last percentage is missing not because I am not 100% certain I am right but because you cannot prove something that doesn't exist (i.e. god).

I am sure you have read Dawkins and he is so right. Religion is a mystery to me when it is intelligent people who spout it. What is wrong with them?

100%.Let ME explain.I agree there are unanswered questions about the big bang.I have a possibly unique view of "supernatural".I think that it is a nonsense word. There may be "something higher"or however one wishes to put it.But there CANNOT exist something "outside of nature"ALL things are natural, unexplained?sure.
"higher power"?possibly.Supernatural?
there is no such thing, only what we cannot explain.Unexplained does not=supernatural

100%, in the same way that I am 100% confident that Santa Claus doesn't exist.

You have pretty much summed up what I think. I consider myself Agnostic. I am about 50/50. It varies depending on my mood though.

I have been 100 percent Athiest for nearly 50 years now... I don't care how other people feel and I don't care about changing their ideas... I just wish they would stop trying to change MY way of thinking
