Which is better? Or is it necessary to have both?

if you are a guy i dont think you want soy protien becasue it has estrogens in it .. i use whey exclusively unless someone here tell me differently

soy protein does not give you any estrogenic effects. Soy protein is a good source of protein. Whey is MORE easily absorbed by the body. So both is just fine. BUT if you have to chose only one like for weight lifting go with Whey.

soy protein is comparable to whey in all categories, men should only consume soy protein isloates. when used for post workout supplementation to jump start recovery after exercise both are excellent choices.

if you need an all purpose protein powder for both post workout, bedtime, between meals, etc. then using a blended protein would be optimum. blended proteins contain both egg and milk proteins which provides a more sustained release of amino acids where whey is very fast acting.

I personally go with the whey protein. Its just what I have always used.

I personally am sensitive to Casein. It gives me painful gas. So if you don't want to eat chicken or fish, I vote for soy...besides, it takes on the flavor of whatever you cook it with and tastes good.
