About 4-5 weeks. Make sure you use a shampoo and conditioner especially for color treated hair to keep it from fading. Also, at least once a week, use a deep conditioning mask. If you keep your hair healthy and moisturized, it holds the color longer.

It depends what you used, your hair type and what shampoos you use.

For example, if you used a Permanent, then it should last until it grows out with some fading, usually 8 weeks. If you used a Semi then it'll fade in about 4-6 weeks, but gradually. If you used a "rinse" with no chemicals this will wash out somewhat completely in 8-12 shampoos.

If you have dry hair, unnourished hair or if your hair is the type that doesn't like chemicals, then the time is going to be cut a lot shorter! For example...my hair, when I used Prefference, which is supposed to last up to 8 weeks without fading, my color fades in about 2 weeks. This includes using special shampoos, conditioners and the conditioner that comes with the color. A Semi lasts only a week in my hair before it starts to look dramatically lighter. I have very dry, sort of damaged hair, and my hair doesn't pick up chemicals very well...perms only last a month in my hair.

If you want it to stay a long time...don't wash your hair. Even some of the shampoos that are for colored hair are too harsh and can strip the color.

It depends on what type of color was used---permanent, demi-permanent, or semi-permanent. Permanent haircolor penetrates the hair's cuticle and causes a chemical reaction, so the color will always be there until you cut it off.

Semi-permanent color sits on the cuticle and is less damaging to hair, but usually fades over time.

Demi-permanent haircolor is meant to come out in 24 shampoos, so its the most temporary out of the three and is the least damaging as well.

By hair color, do you mean hair dye, or the temporary, spray-in-color that comes in a bottle?

It depends on a number of factors. You want to use a really good color and the type of color will make a difference. Is it permanent, semi-permanent or a rinse? The more you wash your hair with a harsh shampoo the more color will fade. Use a mild shampoo to help protect color and remember that red is the hair color that will fade the fastest.

It depends on many factors, like your age.
type of your hair is one of them, one brand may be good and last long on your hair, but doesnt work well on mine.
the brand you use is important, too.
and if you had your hair colored befor may affect ,too.
for example if your hair was colored red then till its red,if you do highlight on your hair it wont be good, and the color will not last long.
the other fact is the No you use.

It depends on the type of color you are using. A permanent rinse, which is going to basically be coating the hair, will last longer than semi-permanent. Rinses come out gradually as you shampoo your hair. If you are lightening or bleaching your hair , it has to grow out.

4-6 weeks is average, mine goes sooner because my hair grows fast but I have friends that last months because their hair grows slowly.

About 3 or 4 months. If you wash it every other day, I'd say a good 5 months.
