Everywhere global warming pro/con disagree. Both talk. No one listen. On what do pro/con agree? Even one thing?

I read much from internet, try learning, but so many lies. Both say, "other lies. I tell truth." How can I know?

Both say "important person says this. believe this." I do not want important person. I know important people lie. I want truth. How can I know who tells truth?

Most people agree that there is climate change occurring. Most people also agree that taking care of the environment is a good thing.

The disjunct comes when discussing the cause of the change, the predicted trending, and proposed solutions, especially mandated solutions that exempt certain groups.

Global warming IS happening. Here are the Scientific FACTS.

• Average temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degree Celsius) around the world since 1880, much of this in recent decades, according to NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

• The rate of warming is increasing. The 20th century's last two decades were the hottest in 400 years and possibly the warmest for several millennia, according to a number of climate studies. And the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports that 11 of the past 12 years are among the dozen warmest since 1850.

• The Arctic is feeling the effects the most. Average temperatures in Alaska, western Canada, and eastern Russia have risen at twice the global average, according to the multinational Arctic Climate Impact Assessment report compiled between 2000 and 2004.

• Arctic ice is rapidly disappearing, and the region may have its first completely ice-free summer by 2040 or earlier. Polar bears and indigenous cultures are already suffering from the sea-ice loss.

• Glaciers and mountain snows are rapidly melting—for example, Montana's Glacier National Park now has only 27 glaciers, versus 150 in 1910. In the Northern Hemisphere, thaws also come a week earlier in spring and freezes begin a week later.

• Coral reefs, which are highly sensitive to small changes in water temperature, suffered the worst bleaching—or die-off in response to stress—ever recorded in 1998, with some areas seeing bleach rates of 70 percent. Experts expect these sorts of events to increase in frequency and intensity in the next 50 years as sea temperatures rise.

• Humans are pouring carbon dioxide into the atmosphere much faster than plants and oceans can absorb it.

• Sea level could rise between 7 and 23 inches (18 to 59 centimeters) by century's end, the IPCC's February 2007 report projects. Rises of just 4 inches (10 centimeters) could flood many South Seas islands and swamp large parts of Southeast Asia.

The facts are there. Carbon Dioxide is being poured into the atmosphere, yet we are STILL cutting down trees to build cities, buildings and factories which will pour our MORE CO2.

You don't need to believe which one party is telling the truth, when there are facts like that.

There really isn't any, as such. The reason is that there is no "debate" about global warming--it has been proved to be real, and that's all there s too it. The "deniers" (cons, as you term them) Are not scientists. They make up data, or use fake data put out by special interests, in an effort to create the illusion there is a debate and that they have something to contribute--which they don't. That's all there is to it. BTW--while I think the US is tops (including in the area of climate research), there are many excellant scientists worldwide also working in this area--and should be respectad as such.

You can't KNOW who's telling the truth without doing some serious work and actually looking at the science (the peer reviewed literature). It takes time. Don't look at who's saying this (much), look at WHAT they're saying.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command

The web isn't the best place to do this, a college library is better. Here's a good article:

Meehl, G.A., W.M. Washington, C.A. Ammann, J.M. Arblaster, T.M.L. Wigleym and C. Tebaldi (2004). "Combinations of Natural and Anthropogenic Forcings in Twentieth-Century Climate". Journal of Climate 17: 3721-3727

summarized at:

These websites have many references to the actual literature:

http://profend.com/global-warming/
http://environment.newscientist.com/channel/earth/dn11462
http://www.realclimate.org
"climate science from climate scientists"

This is the best, but it's very long. It contains hundreds of scientific references.

summarized at:
http://www.ipcc.ch/SPM2feb07.pdf

If you don't care to do the work involved, you could pay some attention to those who do do it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686

Or to the vast majority of world leaders who are very concerned about it. Think they're just following the wrong view because they're too lazy to figure out who's right?

I agree with Gubmint. Everyone I know believes in Global Warming. It is the cause most seem to be skeptical about.

Most of my friends believe the majority of Global Warming is natural, and mans pollution may effect it, but in a very small way. Most of my friends are willing to take measures to reduce pollution anyway because any reduction in pollution is a good thing.

Gubmint nailed it. It would be a comedy routine to suggest that warming in Russia would be considered a tragedy. That is why these people can't be taken seriously.
