Because some ancient Hebrew came up with the idea, then projected it onto God. Just as some christians today with hearts full of hate project their hate onto a loving God and Jesus.

I believe it has to do with the following, which has both a good and bad side if you really want to be a chosen people:

Good: God has chosen you as his/her/it's chosen people. You are the instrument of god's will in this world and will show all the nations how god desires to be worshiped. Though all other nations are not bound by the same laws you are, there will still be principles for all to follow (Noachide laws). If the nations of the world have anything to ask about god, you are the ones who may be able to provide something for them.

Bad: Everyone will hate you because you have been "chosen" over them. Be careful to obey all of the laws your god has bestowed upon you because if you don't - kapow - you will have your nation spread across the world and broken.

Overall some might claim it to be favoritism but some might also claim it to be a curse. You decide.

The Hebrew people were at a time I imagine the only ones who believed in the God of Abraham/Isaach/Jacob.....but that doesn't mean God created a club that denied any other person from being saved or brought into the "fam". My belief is that the Hebrew people were one of the more low-key, less glorious people among a society of Romans, Egyptians, Greeks.....societies full of glory, intellect, splendor,.....etc and here God picks this dysfuntional people that are constantly turning away and then coming back, sometimes worshipping the gods of their fathers....God chose the weak vessels of the world to show his glory.

I cannot give an answer to why God chose who He chose. How can we know that? He has a reason for everything He does. Some things we don't know what the reason is, but we TRUST HIM in all things. He is God, and we are not. The Jews do not accept Jesus as the Messiah. Because of this, God said He was going to put scales over their eyes, and they wouldn't be able to see. But, He also said that the Gentiles would hear, and believe, so that is the GOOD NEWS! We have been chosen to know who Jesus is, and to accept Him, even before those He was sent to. They will, in the end, but right now, we are the ones who see. We have been "grafted in" as the Bible calls it, so we are the same as they are, in being chosen. No difference anymore. But, we are to support the Jews, and to love them, because they ARE God's chosen, and it is through US they will see!! God Bless.

guy is pre - destined, that's an axiom; which does not have any helping information to tutor. yet no count if Israelites are regular and if so, does it take place ceaselessly, i'm uncertain. Even Israelites suffered in previous, plenty greater suitable than Muslims of Palestine, Iraq and Pak occupied Kashmir or the South- Afghans to-day. subsequently, to assert that a particular type is regular continually; - does not carry good. one element is obvious that self-conceit is by no ability tolerated with the help of the God whom Hindus perceive with the huge Nature. Nature right now punishes persons besides as communities of human beings if conceitedness and self-conceit transgresses its limits. God is purely, because of the fact Justice is fact and God is fact. How he could be partial and choose somebody, and disfavor him to whom that's due? Justice is to grant some one his due and what God has given is that plenty we deserve, not something greater and not something much less. yet if you consider that we don't understand what we deserve till ultimately the top, we could continually attempt to act genuinely without hankering for the effect of our strikes.

It is NOT a question of "favoritism", it is a question of "She'ma " - who will LISTEN to God (Adonai).

Too many early humans would rather worship false idols or create religions for others to submit to but, thanks to Abraham, there emerged a people who believed in one all-powerful creator.

God loves all people of all faiths (or, lack thereof) and wants us to follow in his path.
It was Abraham and his descendants that made an agreement with God to follow in the path of righteousness and avoid evil that resulted in God "choosing" the Jewish people.

God, after all, gives us free will...to choose right or wrong, good or evil, worshiping God or false idols.
You can be a "chosen" person, too.
You know what you must do to attain that status.

This is a misinterpretation of what 'chosen' means in this context.

The Torah and all the laws were apparently offered to other nations and they declined. The Jews accepted, so if anything, we chose, rather than being chosen.

As an old Jewish joke goes: 'What exactly have we been chosen FOR.....?"

I would expect a Hebrew god to favour Hebrews.
Just as I favour a brew, brewed by my favourite brewer.
Makes sense to me.

Shall the clay say to the potter, "Why have you made me thus?" When you adopt a child, why do you play favorites and not adopt all the children in the orphanage?

Anyone who puts faith in the ransom of Christ, gets baptized and produces works befitting repentance will be saved.

God has however two groups, the little flock and the other sheep.

This is not a matter of favoritism but a way of building his kingdom.
