I wish it did have something to do with oil, but it didn't. That would have made sense. Oil is something worth fighting for. Invading Iraq was absurd, and continuing to fight there is a tragedy.

No, I think it was a rushed and arrogant move. I don't think it's about oil, there's no evidence that their is besides speculation. I doubt it's so much about Iraqi's freedom either. I think it was done because Bush needed a victory in the war on terror and Saddam made an easy target. Bush also wanted retribution for Saddam's attempt to assassinate his father. I see a lot of parallels with this war and our war with Japan in WW2, perhaps W thought he could easily transform Iraq onto our side and build a legacy for himself.

The invasion was a horrible mistake. Iraq was nicely bottled up with sanctions and no-fly zones. We were holding our adversaries at arms length and now we dance with them cheek to cheek.
If it was about the oil, it was a major screw-up. It would have been cheaper and safer to buy Sadam's cooperation.

The dumbest thing he has done !
We had the war won in Afghanistan , that's where Osama Bin Ladin is, that is where we should be fighting. But he got side track to Iraq's "War for Oil"

It was a smart move. Al Qaeda is pinned down in Iraq. Al Qaeda is devoting most of their resources to Iraq, Al Qaeda is stuck in Iraq like Brer Fox on the Tar Baby.
