Astarte was considered by the ancient jews to be the goddESS, the wife of the male god. YHWH was actually a word which originally, according to these texts you mention, representative of the first family of gods. judaism was indeed originally a polytheistic religion.

Yes, that is true, and if you continue reading the Old Testament you will see how those were destroyed when the people of Israel returned to worshiping God.
