OK, I have 2 shihtzus, they love to go to the park and chase A BALL, but it seems to have to have these "qualifications" a squeaky in it, FITS INTO THEIR MOUTH ONLY SO THEY OTHER CAN'T GRAB IT OUT, and it has to be durable. So far, every time I but something like this, when I can find the right size, the squeaky breaks. They are very picky about that it fits into their mouth and nothing hangs out so the other can't grab it when they are running back to me with it. This may sound like a silly question, but I live on pennies and I have spend about $15 on dog toys in the last month and need to find one that lasts forever. The smaller tennis ball works but if it doesn't squeak, they just tend to ignore it, I think they like to squeak it when they get it to show the other one like " "ha ha, I have it " and it helps me too in the big soccer field where we play. Any suggestions ? thanks Wendy

I have a dog who loves squeeky toys too. I have looked at every type of store for a good durable toy (as my dog is a strong chewer and tries to kill the squeek). I too have a budget problem and have found that the dollar store toys work the best. I have gotten toys from both dollarama and the dollar store and they were all $1 each. One of his favorite toys is a tennis ball sized rubber ball that squeeks and they come looking like a baseball or basketball. I have also gotten squeeky rubber bones (also $1) that are great to play fetch with too. A lot of these toys he has had for over a year and only one has lost it's squeeky. Plus for $1 if it only lasts a couple months I don't really care. I have spent $5-$10 on other toys that do not last as long so now I go for the dollar store ones.

Your question made me giggle! But I have a Boston Terrier and he hates the squeaky and intentional breaks the squeak. Your dogs are more then likely doing that too. HEHE. Dogs are smart. Have you tried the little Kong balls. They range in size. And there is another toy i had to get for my larger size dog. Not sure what it was. But I got it at a Wamart. Not sure what your around. But it was little and no squeaky. It was a bell that there was no way to fall out or harm the dog. It was fairly cheap and the larger dog still has it. But good luck finding a toy!!

Try looking for a "KONG"...It does not have a squeaky in it and it's not round, but they do come small enough to fit in a small dogs mouth and they have a hole in either end so that u can put treats in it.such as dog treats or even peanut butter to keep them occupied. They are extremly durable.my aunt has a rottweiler that cant even break into it...they come in all different sizes...i know its not a ball or even what u are looking for,but give it try.it keeps most dogs occupied for hours.

Try getting small rayhide bones. Despite what they say i the dog books, they won't chock on them.
