Sam Harris when he says you shouldn't use the word atheist to describe yourselves?
Or Richard Dawkins when he says you should embrace the word atheist and use it openly?

Dawkins. I think Harris's argument that we shouldn't use the word atheist is based on a misunderstanding of linguistics.

I guess it depends on the way you picture yourself.
I personally don't really like the word atheist to describe myself. To me, it sounds like a whole new religion instead of conveying a "live and let live" attitude - which is what I like.
One of the main things about my beliefs is that I don't want to be categorized. So even if somebody asks me what I am, my answer is usually something like "free thinker", "realist" or simply "I'm not religious".
Most people that openly call themselves atheists also tend to be quite adamant about their lack of religion - it leaves a bad taste in my mouth because it starts to feel like the counterpart to the born-again christians...and yes - that's a bad thing!

Atheist (one who disbelieves the existence of gods) is a perfectly good word. Why would I care what Harris or Dawkins think of it?

Richard Dawkins. I am an atheist, not a person that ignores god.

I think that people should be honest but not flaunt it. If you are atheist and asked I would be honest. So I guess Sam Harris. I am not atheist but I live with someone who is and they are just honest about it when asked.

Richard Dawkins. Why hide who you are and what you believe in? As long as I don't force my beliefs onto anyone else.

The atheist has gotten rid of all his pre-conceived notions of God. This is the step towards God, yet the atheist cannot experience the Presence because the Denial is in the way!

I don't really care.

I'll pick on Tuesdays through Thursday I'll be an atheist, the rest of the week I'll just use reason and evidence to demonstrate my beliefs (it's the same thing anyway).
