Why! Simple. I'll tell you in something close to you.
To believe in God, is another word of saying to Respect God.

If your family, parents had people don't respect them. Should they allow them in their home! I think not.
As in many religion, the end point is where a person will end up. And respecting the owner or the master of the domain, the house, as some refer to it Heaven, is the point, and who will be permitted to enter that house, and who will not.

If you have the abililty to choose which place or house you will spend your life! which place would you choose! We have many books, many prophets who came and taught what we must do to be able to get to that final destination. Now, the ball, is in your court. How you wish to play the game. up to you.

Any God worthy of being called God would care whether someone believed in him or not for the same reason that any parent deserving of being called Mom or Dad would care that their children become good and prosperous people.
God is the father of his children, thereby as any true parent, he cares that his children should follow his morals, scruples, and laws and by-laws, etc.
There is only one true God, he is deserving, and he does love his children and is thereby concerned that his children follow the straight and narrow.
The word believe is a very deep word and the true meaning of believe carries with it a deep definition. If a person truly believes then that person's entire life and way of living becomes wrapped around that belief and following a set path does not become a question but becomes a do or die thing.
That is why.

Would your father care whether you acknowledged him or not?
AH! But you will cry I have seen my father. Yes, and the world in which you live has been given to you to enjoy - you provided nothing. It has nothing to do with worth and everything to do with love. And the world saw Him - and put Him to death.

Matthew 23
37O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

38Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

First, Why do you believe in God?
Second, Supposing that an all powerful God created and sustains all of, well, everything and that He (or she) created manking with a freewill to choose to believe or not...it would follow that it would please this God if His creation made the decision to believe in Him and follow whatever dogma that entails.

Either you 'believe' or you don't . It is such a personal thing .
I do, so I will refer to G-d .
I can only compare G-d to a parent . A parent would care if there child believed, loved and cared about them,.
I believe that G-d is my creator -my parent-
Wow that sounds so simple ---I hope you don't think I am talking down to you -that is simply what I believe and always have .

Good question. Why would an all powerful, all knowing god have in 'creating' us in the first place? What would be the point?
