Workers in Chinese restaurants speak their native tongue in front of customers, and you don't argue, right?
So, stop your anti-Russian rant, and mind your own business.

The reason why people are russian at 50% - ??? In which conditions and salary do they work - ? If they speak english to customers, where is the problem ?- and last question what is the level of your hotel ???
You're unaware of the challenge it represents for slavic speakers to learn english deeply - I'm aware of it since I study russian and travel to Russia every year - a whole life is hardly sufficient to acquire those languages

If they are speaking Russian on their breaks, they have a right. If they are speaking Russian and interfering with the hotel operations, they don't have a right. If it just bothers you, but it does not affect hotel operations or worry customers, then grow up and get a life. I live in Ukraine. My fiancee and her daughters are Russian. I don't speak either language. My only option is to speak English with them. Why don't YOU be considerate and stop trying to interfere in their private matters, if it is, indeed, their private conversations.

It is considered rude to speak a foreign language in mixed company. I know your coworkers aren't thinking in that vein. But, when it comes to America, it is proper etiquette to speak only English unless you ask the other people if it's OK. Most people think they are being criticized by the speakers, and that is why it is rude in polite society.
Mention to your superiors that some customers have complained. Then the ball is in their court. If they don't care about it, then neither should you. If it irritates you to the point of distraction, then seek other work. If the manager/owner doesn't care, there's really nothing you can do.

I think, that if employees persist in speaking another language, particularly in front of customers, that soon the hotel will have many fewer customers to worry about. It is incredibly rude, particularly in a business setting, to converse with someone in front of someone else who does not understand the language you are speaking. I think you should simply tell your supervisor that customers are being alienated by the practice of some of your coworkers, and you are afraid this will eventually cost your hotel business. By the way, you might also tell him that it is not the habit of higher class hotels to have desk clerks that jabber in a foreign language in front of its clients. It just boils down to manners...I do not stay where I am not treated courteously.

People feel insecure when don't understand what others are talking about. If it was Spanish or French nobody would notice, because we are used to it. Immigrants are working everywhere and for less money, they cannot speak English between them.

They should speak English to the customers, and not talk in a foreign language to themselves in front of a customer. Whenever that happens to me I feel like they'te talking about me and dont' want me to know what they're saying. "What an ugly person!" etc.

Some people are proud of their heritage. My grandmother spoke German as a child. She learned English and never passed her original language down to her kids. I wish she would of. It's America. It used to be called the melting pot of the world. So please climb down off that elitist pedestal you put yourself on.

Tell them it is improper to speak another language in an American hotel, and it confuses customers and makes them feel wacky.

Definitely report them to the bosses. There are some Top Reporter badges going around - who knows, you might land one?
