If your mom applied online either by herself or through a registered travel agent, airline service or specialist provider then she can check the progress of her online application using her Transaction Reference Number (TRN) at any time.

Note- This is for the Tourist Visa (Subclass 676)

Visit the website below:
https://www.ecom.immi.gov.au/inquiry/query/query.do?action=eVisa

For processing times and other information please refer to the following website.

If your mom applied for the ETA (Visitor) visa (Subclass 976)

Then she can check the status of her application on the website below:

Just click the 2nd link down on the left hand-side of the page - "Check you ETA'

Above answers are correct but as a Filipino Immigration here is very tough on younger Pinays as plenty before have come here and gone T.N.T as I am sure you know. If you are Pinoy, pretty much the same. Immigration are hard because so many of your fellow countrymen/women do not return to the PI when their visas are up. If you are middle aged, cashed up with a job and family back home and just want to visit relatives and friends and see the sights it is pretty much ok as Immigration know you will most likely return to your job and family. How do I know all this? 23 years married to a Pinay and lots of visas organised for her family to come here as tourists.Do not listen to all the stupid gossip you will hear from people there about visas, ask your questions only at the Aussie Embassy and get the real story rather than listen to a local who thinks they know it all and actually are loco loco on this subject. Several times I have heard Filipinos talking about visa issues and the stories they tell each other is pure rubbish. You need to have ''show money'' you need to do this that and the other--all rubbish. Fill in your own application. Be 100% truthful--Immigration here can smell a false application easy, so do not lie on the form, they WILL find out and you will be black listed. Stay away from Fixers there, they will take all your money and you still will not get a visa. Don't trust an''Agent'' to get you a visa. Only Australian Immigration issue visas and if someone tells you pay me x Pesos I will get you a visa then that person is a fixer. It cannot be done that way.If you end up here and go TNT when they catch you it may result in a prison sentence but it WILL result in deportation and you will have to pay back the airfares to your Government as you will be sent home on P.A.L.and as you know, they dont give out free tickets. You will then be banned for a minimum 3 years of applying again but even after 3 years Immigration will black list you. Dont go TNT is all I can say.

I would be ringing them up where ever you are getting it processed, it's maybe sitting on someone’s desk and forgotten about.
It's been known to happen .. especially common in Government department!
