Go slow. Eat healthy foods that are low in acid (no tomato or orange juice). A simple turkey sandwich on whole grain bread (no lettuce because it is hard to digest).

Try to eat foods from all the food groups so you'll get the nutrients you need. I'm trying to keep track of calories while doing this myself....started my diet...again...about a week ago. I wasn't sure how many calories to eat each day to lose 2 lbs a week so I went to a website which calculated it for me depending on my present weight, my goal weight, age, height and usual physical activity. The amount of calories you need to maintain or lose varies on your weight, so the calories will have to be adjusted as you lose. I am a junk food junkie and this is what got me where I am today so I have completely stopped all chocolate, chips, pastries and ice cream....I cannot control myself and eat in moderation so I am not going to even try with the "serving size" thing. So far, I haven't had any urges but if I would take one bite, I know I wouldn't be able to control myself. I am also trying to take a 30 minute walk every evening. Any kind of exercise while trying to lose is beneficial. Good luck!!!

Watch your portion sizes, eat an increased amt of fruits and veggies, broil rather than fry, watch fats, sweets and high calorie items. Stop eating when you are full and exercise. Make sure that you have a commitment to changing your eating habits for life. Diets only work for a short time unless you change your philosophy on food. Eating well does not require much more than common sense. You know what is good and bad for you. Drink lots of water and search for some good receipies so that you dont get bored with what you are eating, You dont have to give up eating good tasting food because you are on a diet plus its OK to splurge once in a while so that you dont feel deprived. Good luck.

I say just start eating healthy now. You have flushed all of the toxins out of your body by being sick. You can't put a diet off until tomorrow. You have to start today and just JUMP IN!

Good Luck! I am in the same boat and just jumped in 5 weeks ago by joining a gym. That has really helped.

As anyone should do (to be healthy) focus on lean protein, fruits and veggies, whole grain products, healthy fats, and lots of water. Keep your foods kinda bland for a few days right after having been sick (anything spicy may set you off again).

When you feel up to it, add exercise to your regime and you'll be on your way to a healthy lifestyle that will help you lose unwanted weight and keep it off indefinitely.

Good luck (and feel better soon!)
