The application for the 2008 Global Action Awards is now open!

Mercy Corps Global Action Awards honor U.S. high school students who have led a project that had a direct, positive impact on people in developing countries and that raised awareness about global poverty. Honorees receive $5,000 for their education or a charity of their choice. To check out last year's winners, visit www.globalactionawards.org.

U.S. high school students and recent graduates can apply today at www.globalactionawards.org. All materials are due by January 31, 2008.

Yes, I know many who have taken action in various ways. The young are natural idealists. I give generously to my alma mater, and particularly to the scholarship fund that provides tuition aid to an incoming student who has been active in gay/lesbian awareness groups in his/her HS.

to be honest,nope,none of a high school students that I know of have done something that would really change stuff all over the world,just think about it,even ppl who can make a great influence just talk and do nothing for real...thats sad!we should talk less- do more!
