when an infant gets cochlear implants do they have to always wear the behind the ear thing forever?

There are two types of speech processors: Body Worn and BTE (Behind The Ear). Body worn is generally used until age 3, when the ears are large enough to support the BTE processor. Research into fully implantable cochlear implants is underway, but this technology is probably at least a decade out from commercial availability.
