Some medications do promote excess sweating. Without stopping your meds (if they are the reason) tie a bandana over your head (I do that sometimes when running) so it soaks up the sweat and less runs down your face.

The sweating isn't something you have control over, and plenty of people perspire when they workout so I wouldn't worry about anyone finding it repuslive. Just be sure to wipe off any equipment you use and keep a towel with you to wipe your face or whatever is extra damp...when I workout, I'm soaked afteward and have to peel off my wet clothes. You're not alone.

First of all hun, some people just naturally sweat more than others.

Second of all don't worry about it, it just shows that by working hard your body temp was raised and you needed to cool down.

I've been going to the gym for 10 years or so now, and I've passed the point where I care what I look like. I constantly come off the treadmill out of breath, sweaty as hell, but happy; and am always sweaty when I work on the weights!

In my opinion those who don't sweat at the gym aren't doing any real work. Especially the fat people you mentioned who (and you'll notice this if you look) don't actually work that hard on the whole. Were they going on the treadmills and walking? or doing a slow speed on the bike? exactly.

People will be concentrating on themselves at the gym, not worrying about what you are doing hun, but of those who do notice, the people who know what they are doing in gyms will respect you more because they know you aren't one of the lazy wasters who take up the machines and do nothing.

Don't worry about it and enjoy your workout hun. X

I really sympathise with you, as I have the same problem and it can get embarrassing (trying to wipe sweat off your brow when no one is looking! - Oh yes, been there!) I have the problem where I sweat most on my head, I must have a lot of sweat glands on my head! Often when I sweat in the gym, I can end up looking like I've been in the shower (with all my hair wet). I got round the problem by always tying my hair up into a ponytail and by using a sweat band and then putting my fringe over the sweatband (so as not to make it obvious that I've got one on). It seems to do the trick.....

I've heard of some people who have an operation to remove sweat glands, but obviously I wouldn't recommend anything as drastic as that, but if the worst comes to the worst...its a last option for you.

It could be, or it could just be your body...I'm not overweight by any means, but as soon as I'm into my 1st set I'm breaking out in a sweat too! It's just the body's reaction to being hot. Bring a towel (or 2) with you and wipe your head after every set so you down feel it. Use the other towel to sit on so you don't leave wet marks on the benches :-) Just think, sweating pushes all the impurities out of your skin, so it's helping it to look healthier :-)

I understand what you're saying. I sweat a lot too, even from light exertion. There's nothing you can do about it except to stop exercising, which I hope you don't do. However, I doubt that anyone is really paying attention to your sweating. If people notice you at all, they are probably silently cheering you on and hoping you reach your fitness goals. Don't be so hard on yourself, especially over something that is genetic.

i don't think its something to worry about as u are at the gym so sweaty people are common place at the gym. i sweat bucket loads at the gym and i see some people who run the same distance as me and don't sweat as much as myself. people's bodies are different. the reason u might be breaking out even when not doing high intensity is maybe due to ur not being particularly fit? its nothing to worry about but u could try drinking sage tea b4 hitting the gym as sage is known to reduce sweating. but as said earlier its really nothing to worry about. in fact when i train and i don't drip i feel like I'm not pushing myself hard enough

Swim Laps instead - you'll tone every muscle with the least amount of effort & you won't look sweaty. Take a Towel if you don't want to look wet.
