the reason why they say, by they I mean the church, is down to the fact of instilling fear into the believers. They reign through fear, they say that God is kind, he loves you, but if you turn against him he will send you to the depths of hell for eternity. These things are said like a parent would say to there child " if you touch that you will be sorry" , " do as i say or you will be grounded". they are just empty threats that are given to keep control.
the other reason is to make the believer feel that they will survive the end of days, this is done because someone realised that the end of days could be anything, anything that causes end of life can be construed as being Gods punishment. They are told and the Christians believe that they will be the chosen ones that will either survive, or be taken to heaven when God decides hes had enough of our sin and destroys the world, but you make a good point;; why would he destroy the world?, or even just us? he wouldn't for it would have been alot of effort to construct and entire universe just for us ( as they believe) to then kill us all for our sins. The other thing to take into account is the fact that Jesus was supposed to have died for our sins, so why would he come back to destroy us for them. I know that the Christians feel that Judgement day is inevitable, but with everything else in Christianity, the propheses can come true by the law of odds, for we are only here by the law of odds, a mathimatcal probability, thus at some point it will all end, then the christians will take credit for knowing, it is all a con and all a tool that the church uses to control and keep them within the church, so they can make profit. cause that s what its all about! isnt it!

God promised us a new heaven and a new earth, in which all the corruption will be cleansed away with fire.
The description goes beyond any concept of paradise you may imagine.
This old earth needs a cleansing. There is just too much wickedness on the face of this planet as it now stands. He's gonna give it a thorough cleansing so that those who DO want to live by His Laws will be able to do so without all the mockers, skeptics, lawbreakers and evil doers hindering us at every turn of the corner.
He will also give a thorough cleansing to those who desire to live here, but He's already begun that process through the shed blood of Jesus Christ for any who will submit and come under His lordship (ie let Him be the boss of our lives).

Lets say ur in God's shoes for a day "hypothetically" And u saw all ur children suffering, and in pain... doing things that hurts u as a person, as a parent, as a God... To end so much suffering and evils, what must he do sometimes... let it continue u, or try to change it, for the better of the people... No, no one should destroy what he or she has created, but no, no one should let what he or she created suffer for eternity...

I am not a Christian yet try to tell from my view. GOD means Generator, Organiser and Destroyer. Birth is creation, living is Organisation and Death is destruction. This is a process. When the population overgrows, over-flows and at a point man starts questioning the existence of the creator and destructs all the nature, then god proposes to have a new creation. Hence the destruction is a part of his game.

Well, we normally refer to our God as "He", since you seem to be confused on that. But the reason is because of His holiness. According to the scriptures God is holy and cannot be in contact with evil or sin. Since sin has corrupted the universe, the only solution for it is to be destroyed and a new heavens and earth created in which there is no evil.

Hello Roman Warrior.. :)
1. All God asks of us is to accept His son Jesus who died on the cross, that we may be forgiven of our sins.. :)
God wishes that none shall perish..that is why Jesus has not returned yet..
2. It is sin in ones heart, that shall destroy mankind.. :(
3. I am not the one who created us..so it is not my place to speak for God..
But I pray *all* shall come to the knowledge of His ~Love~ and Saving Grace.. :)
I say this with ~Love~
In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With ~Love~ In Christ.. :)

God's original purpose for Earth still stands! He has not changed His mind. Deserving humans will live everlastingly on Earth, the way He originally intended to be. Psalms 37:11,29. This Earth once again will be a paradise.

He will renew the whole heavens and the earth, because the earth has been cursed with sin. You probably haven't noticed, but most things are running down and not getting better as stupid evolution teaches. We listen to man and we should be listening to God. Read the Bible.

No, I don't think God is into destroying. He is all about creating life and then giving it in abundance.
If you hear stories about God destroying people or the world, you can be sure that you're listening to a fundamentalist, and I would encourage you not to take what they say seriously.
