unless you are a very good swimmer, you should consider using a plane

definitely you have to travel by plane. check pal or cebu pacific for budgeted trip with hotel accomodations already. you can do it online or via outlet ticketing. if breakfast included and you know what you want to do and buy, you can already estimate how much to bring. W/ electronics item or jewelry stuff to be purchased budget 5t HK money.
For a first timer, go with the city tour offer plus Ocean Park and Victoria Peak. Go to MongKok - it is like our 168. Go to WanChai - like Chinatown. The malls for brand name stuffs. Need to ride the tram, train, MRT, boat transfer from HK to Kowloon or vice versa, CauseWay - visit Sogo the only surviving Japanese store and the Welcome Supermarket there. It is big and sell take out food cheaper.

You have to go by plane. From the Philippines, it should take that long to get to HK.
