I have a back and ankle injury that im currently having physio on (and for the last 5 or so years). On good days I can walk and jog and I like to do this with my 10month old Cocker Spaniel Lab X puppy.

She's quite energetic at times and likes to run a lot faster than me. My Mum who is a very good mountain runner (She's beaten Melissa Moon, Woman's World Champion Mountain Runner) also has this problem.

If you go running with your dog is she/he like this? Do you know how to train my puppy so she doesn't think she's running a race? Will this get better as she gets older?

We've tried a short leash, a chocker chain and a full body harness.

Good Morning Wabby, use a short leash with a choker chain, and train her to run and walk at your pace. Also to begin with teach her to stay on the side of you that you are holding the leash.
Choker chains sound harsh, but they are well worth it, to train the pup. Buy one to suit the size of dog when it is full grown.
You will be surprised at how much pressure they will tolerate from the chain and as they grow you will feel the increase in their pulling power.
You can also teach her to heel and sit with a short sharp tug by you on the leash

Until your dog learns and respects that you are in charge and the leash is an extension of you your dog will continue to thinkhe is the leader. When you are walking you dog, have a short lead, he should be walking beside you not ahead.A short lead also gives you more control. You could try some obedience training with your dog.Remember to tell your family to reinforce your rules with the dog.It will be easier for your dog to learn if rules and expectations are consistantly applied. It is the same with children. BEFORE anyone starts I am not equating children as being equal with animals,I am merely stating both need consistancy and expectations to be their best.

Greyhounds want safety and so they turn out to be very connected to their proprietor additionally they're sprinters no longer lengthy distance runners. I do not feel it could be reasonable in your puppy while you become a member of the navy until you feel you are going to nonetheless be competent to engage with it on a day-to-day groundwork. What approximately a puppy which could also be very individuals pleasant as good as athletic? I'm pondering a lab could be a well option. This manner while you depart for the navy it is effortless in your puppy to be at ease with a care taker.

With as young as your dog is it sounds like she just needs to be trained. I would suggest walking with her using one of the training collars available (choker, pronged, or electronic) until she knows to stay your speed.
