atleast 3 months.
but if you are going to take them out,
make sure not to get fake gold or
silver, they can really damage your ears
and cause infections.

The time frame you'll be told varies depending on who does the piercing - I've been told anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Ultimately, the important part is not to leave the earrings out for longer then it would take to change it. To some extent, it may be affected by your pain tolerance, as you may find it uncomfortable to pull the stud out of your ear and put a new one in before the slight swelling comes down. I'd recommend waiting at least 8-10 days for the healing process to start. Also, make sure if you change it soon after piercing that you are using a high quality metal (10-14k gold would be my recommendation) as the lower quality ones are more likely to irritate a new piercing, and continue to clean your ears as recommended until they are fully healed.

For me it didn't hurt as much as getting a regular piercing. You just hear kindof a popping sound but besides that it really isn't too bad, just throbs a little about an hour after. When you get it done though you might what to just get a stud at first instead of a hoop because its less painful. I got a hoop and they have too pierce it with a needle and then put the earring through and then screw on the ball. When you take it out at first you will be able to see a hole. I've had mine pierced for almost 2 years now though, and I can't see the hole anymore when I take it out.

Where ever u peirce ur ears, they will tell u how long to leave them in, usually it;s 4 to 6 weeks. But make sure to move the ear rings around everyday, so they dont get stuck and crusty lol. and use some kind of cleanser everyday, I get my ears peirced at Clairs and they give u a bottle of stuff, but otherwise I don;t know where u could get it .

when i got mine done i had to wear the studs they gave me for 3 months and then i had to get 14 carat gold earrings and wear them for one full year from the date you took out the studs or else your ear will probably get infected.

just a note of warning... don't get your ears pierced by a gun when you do (it may be cheaper, but it's hugely unhygenic and potentially damaging to your ear, plus likely to take longer to heal and more likely to get infections)

about 6 weeks. thats when your ears are pretty much healed. but if your ears arent healed then you should wait longer. basically, when your ears are healed then you can change them. hope this helps. =)
