Yes, of course. If the tick isn't already imbedded into the cat's skin, and is just riding loose in the cat's fur, it surely can move onto human skin.

Yep ticks are not specific where they put their heads, so if you or the cat has been got by a tick make sure when you pull them out you get the head, dont just pull, if you are not sure seek a doc or a vet.
Ticks can carry some nasty diseases, but they are common so try some frontline/stronghold on the cat, and that way he/she will act as a little hoover on legs so any nasty parasite that jumps on will take a nibble and soon after die.
If you already treated the cat with this kind of product I would not worry too much but bear in mind ticks can come in on you too, that is they can get in your socks, boots, jeans etc especially if you live near the country or if you have been for a walk. So it might not be cats fault.

Yes they can but not if they have been sprayed according to my vet. take the plunge and get the little ******* off the cat!! Spray from vet kills them or twist them off with tweezers but it is very tricky as if head stays cat gets abscess! Apprently if you spread something like vaseline on the head it suffocates the tick but not sure if safe for cat so I did tweezer method - nearly died it made my skin crawl!!! yuck
